Some more fantasizing, guys...what would you do if you won 10 million dollars?

Okay guys,

You've just won say....$10 million with a lucky lotto ticket. What would you do with it?

I would.....

1. Make some sound investments.

2. Keep aside a fair amount for some real worthy charity.

3. Take the whole family over to my AD for a Rolex buying splurge.

4. (And this is the best bit)....organize a world tour for me and the wifey and try and visit each and every friend of mine on TRF!!

Cheers - JJ

I always get worried when I see you start off a post with this kind of title, JJ. I wonder if I'm going to open the post up and see sheep-love.

Seriously, though:

1. Pay off my family, my wife's family, friends and give some money away to some organizations that I already donate to, taking up about $4 million (I would be in a rather magnaminous mood, after all).

2. Invest a bunch of what's left.

3. My wife and I would retire from the Army, find a place in Ottawa and dig-in for the long-term.

4. Buy four watches that I've always wanted (IWC Mark XVI, Panerai GMT w/Power Reserve Indicator - their new manufacture movement, A. Lange und Zohne Perpetual Calendar and finally, a Kobold Large Soarway Diver).

5. My wife would buy her beloved Porsche Caymen S.

6. And we'd travel the world rather extensively for a while and figure out what I want to do when I grow up ...

James

Nice house in the Bahamas, Maledives, New Zealand, Hawaii, India (maybe Nepal), Argentina, Costa Rica and Canada.

Expanding my watch collection.

Maybe start up an AD.

Traveling, yacht to sail from one house to the other.

And setup something to fund small schools in some of those countries.

All the rest would be needed to pay taxes on those houses

Share some with my family, enough to make everyone happy.

Then sell the house, the car, pretty much everything I own except for my laptop, flamenco guitar and scuba equipment.

Fly to Belize. Buy small beach house. Dive daily. Play guitar daily. Occasionally order books and DVDs online.

Drive up to Cozumel/Playa/Cancun every now and then to see what's new at the Rolex store.

My needs are few.

Lots of possibilities but I think I would start

with paying off my house here in Hawaii. A paid for house in paradise is a good thing. :)

I would then buy a house for my parents and siblings each. Of course the wife and I would need new his and hers Rose gold Day-dates. :)

I'd be sure to invest 3 to 5 million to ensure I would never have to work again.

Oh yeah, would need some 4 wheel toys too, probably a BMW 750 for me and a Nissan 350Z for the wife. She digs that car for some reason.

Its fun to fantasize about getting a sh!t load of cash but then reality sets in as I open up the Ramein noodles package for my dinner. :)

Regards from paradise. Tim

i would pay my parents house off, and send them on a 30th anniversary trip theyd never forget. i'd buy myself a house, buy my sister a house. Buy myself a fun car, a solid 18k blue sub, and invest the rest.

- I would pay of all houses in my family (incl. cousins)
- give my hubby the beemer he always wanted
- give my daddy the Harley he wants
- my brother would get a plain ticket to come and visit me!
- I would fund hospitals, and schools
- the rest would go to investments, and college-funds for my future children!
- as for myself.... I would probably keep doing what I'm doing... I get bored otherwise.

Correct!.

After all JJ did not say which currency. The nearest dollar currency to me is Zimbabwe. 10 million Zimbabwe Dollars only buys a loaf of bread.

I'd move to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and buy a condo in South Beach, Miami. I'd also leave a life of leisure :)

In NZ, if you won the big Lotto - no matter how huge the amount - you get to keep it ALL - no taxes whatsoever!!

I like this thread JJ.
1. I would have claimed my prize in a different name and asked not to be photographed.
2. I would buy a Ferrari 360 Modena and drive across America and photograph all the beauty.
3. I would purchase a home that I really like.
4.I would help charities, fund highschool and college scholarships and live low key.
Extended Family and peers would never be happy with anything I would do for them, so I would only help my close family. I would not make new friends.

Easy...

I would move to the French Riviera and become a coke snorting playboy whose only friends would be the supermodels hanging around in Jimmy'z in Monaco.

When the money is finished I would probably beg my wife to take me back saying that I had a mid life crisis...

Yep, same here in Canada. Which is ironic, considering that they seem to tax everything else!

If ye think about how many times something has been taxed from raw material to end product you wonder how they can make Rolex that cheap

Belgium too, no taxes on lottery winnings.

Yep, I hear you, Filip. I find the entire concept of various levels of government dipping into everyone's pockets all along the economic ladder to be obscene, especially considering how poorly they manage and spend it!
