Unique 'sport' watch? Opinions!
I have a problem: I love wearing my watch, but the leather band is a liability in many situations to the point where I have to leave the poor thing at home!
Solution? Find a new grail watch to work towards! What I love about my first rolex (and, in general, most everything) is unique-ness. I fell in love with my current watch because the meteorite face was unlike any I had seen before, and I still find myself staring without realizing it. I love the fact that it's a true mechanical watch, a masterpiece of engineering and a testament to artisan level craftsmanship, despite the preponderance of quartz/digital/atomic clocks. Is there a fine sport watch that has all this, with the ability to be worn on a boat, while playing sports, when going through pouring rain is the only option, etc? |

All Rolex Oyster watches would be in that profile.

The oysters run the gamut from 'not bad' to 'wow,' def have to give those a closer look!
Sub C is a fantastic iconic watch (and some of the pictures in the forum truly highlight how beautiful they can be), but none I've yet encountered really grabbed me I'm afraid |

Give the new Expy II a try a test drive. For me, it is exactly the sports/tool watch you describe.

I'll cast the first vote for ExpII 42mm 216570 or 14060 if you want new.

JK. You'll have to try on watches until you see the one you want. Good problem to have. :) Any Rolex on a steel bracelet, or even gold bracelet, is waterproof and highly shock resistant. If you can afford it, check out the blue dial/bezel white gold Sub. |

I'd recommend the new Yachtmaster with the blue dial, or a SubC Green

Just saw this post: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=215490
Does the face truly change color on angle change? I gotta admit, that is a striking watch! I'll have to see one in person, but if that's the case, it may have jumped onto the list! So yep, I'll have to limit watch purchases, I can already see my paychecks being earmarked for these endeavors |

none of the rolex sports models are particularly "unique", imo. maybe consider the hulk? tough-as-nails submariner with a twist? there are quite a few on this board (for good reason), but, in the wild, it might be unique enough for you.

Sub C, GMT II C, Explorer II (42 mm), Yacht-Master (the new one with upgraded bracelet & clasp), Deep Sea (if you want something bigger)
Or consider a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Comes on either a waterproof 'sailcloth' strap or a steel bracelet. More exclusive and you don't see many 'in the wild'

Well actually it's 164.04199475065616797900262467192 Fathoms, but that might look a bit silly on the dial...

The fathom seems to be an imprecisely defined measure - I was using the conventional 6ft but there seem to be a few alternatives. As you say though maybe Fifty Fathoms sounds better as a name.........

I completely agree with this, except for maybe for the addition of the Yacht Master II.

If you've bought yourself a WG Daytona with Meteorite dial, then you are likely to have come across Rolex's other awesome sports watches such as the Sub and GMT????
