I Did Something Stupid (don't mix a paper clip and a rolex)

Okay -- some of y'all would kill me for this, but it was a mistake, and a stupid one at that.

The other day at work, I was sitting there doing nothing, bored outta my damned mind, and started playing with a paper clip. I stretched it out, and was poking around in a keyboard, then inside the fan vents in the CPU, and the novely wore off quickly. So, I turned to my watch.

Well, as most of y'all know, there's platinum in that pretty ceramic bezel. So, well, I don't know quite how to say this, but I kinda fiddled around with the paper clip and the nice triangle at 12 o'clock. It scratched the hell outta that triangle with very little pressure. It is not noticable unless while in the right light, but I seem to notice it almost everytime the light is right and I glance at my watch.

Again, as stated time and time again, I don't care about scratches if they were "accidental" but this one was from a stupid mistake and boredom.

Stupid paper clip!

Yes, office work can be dangerous for your Rolex!

Remember JJ scratching the bezel of his Explorer II on a filing cabinet??

But don't worry too much about it

Accidents happen, and you can have the scratch removed at the next service of your watch.

Perhaps Rolex can re-blast it with platinum atoms at service time? Nah, they'll probably replace the whole thing. And wack us with the tab of course

Accidental stupidity may sometimes get chalked up as deliberate ignorance.

CoughCoughFlipCoughCough Trade ya straight up for a 16710 back from service! Bezel is only $51 if you want to play with paperclips again.

They should have filled the numbers with epoxy.

I don't see how the word "ignorance" comes into the picture. You deliberately took a metal clip to that triangle!!

Do you have loupe? Put it over the spot, then use the macro function on the camera and place camera on top of the loupe. I just read on the internetS that this works great! :)

Thanks for the tip; may try that next time. It shows up above, but could probably look a little better.

Odd, but when I use the loupe to examine it, it can only be seen from one side.

Kinda like suede, ya know. Rub one way, it shows up, rub the other, it doesn't.

Oh well...

Well, you could finish by carving a heart in there, with the spouse's initials. Might as well earn some points.

That ain't so bad.. Get yourself one of these and fix it up in no time..

seriously: Give it a good wash and use a soft toothbrush lightly on the bezel and it might just disappear.

(don't tell the wife you used her toothbrush)

True desk diving scratches.

Buff it out with 80 grit sandpaper.

Your home and office are the most dangerous places for your watch. Under the ocean, on safari and desert combat are probably safer.

It's been years since I've been able to do that

I am sorry to hear about your watch, but as some of the other folks have said that's an easy fix at your next service. If course, if you are interested in a nice Omega SMP we may be able to work a deal
