I check my Rolex against a radio-controlled alarm clock by Junghans, but you can also use Internet time servers such as www.greenwichmeantime.com
You can find more information about serial numbers in the FAQ section here on TRF under the "General Rolex Forum". And yes, the serial number tells you when the watch was MADE, but does not give any information about when it was SOLD. FAQ's: Serial numbers and much more good stuff! CLICK!

For some reason there is a 20 second difference between these two sites times. The www.time.gov is 20 secs faster.

personally I prefer time.gov as it's linked to a US naval timekeeping system that constantly corrects any variances in the time itself. And if you can't depend on the US Navy, who can you depend on????

Tune in to any AM radio channel which sounds the 6 beeps on the hour, every hour. On the sound of the sixth beep, your centre sweep should touch '12' to indicate pin-point accuracy. JJ
