VS: Omega Flightmaster Chrono/GMT - Ref: ST145.036

A beautiful example of an original un-refinished Flightmaster showing very minor surface wear for its age. The hand wound movement runs well and all complications function properly. As vintage watches go, this one is close to, if not actual auction grade.

This is the second generation of two versions of the Flightmaster that were produced between 1969 into the early 1970's. This version features the c.911 movement and its complications include: a three register chronograph; running subseconds dial at 9:00; a twelve hour GMT hand that has a unidirectional adjustment from the auxiliary crown at the 10:00 position; and, an internal bi-directional timing bezel that adjusts from the auxiliary crown at the 8:30 position. This model was the basis for the more modern X-33.

The ST145.036 had factory paint applied to the pushers and auxiliary crowns that correspond to the colors of the handset. In the following photo, you can see most of the paint, yellow and orange, remains on the chronograph pushers. In the next photo, you can see the blue paint for the GMT hand, but the black paint for the timing bezel has been lost. It is rare to see any original factory applied paint left at all on one of these vintage pieces.

The bracelet is the 1166 stainless link bracelet with 172 endpieces, correct for this watch. It is long enough to accommodate an 8 1/4" wrist and has moderate stretch for its age.
