How about LEO's who wear Rolex to work

Hope this hasn't been done before. I saw this photo of the Chief of Fairfax County VA PD being interviewed wearing a SS Sub. It made me think, how many LEO's wear theirs at work.

Here's mine (sorry about the knife, the maker wanted a pic with me holding it and it is the only one I have with my Sub.)

I don't wear my sub. to work, it would get beat up badly, couldn't handle that. Are you wearing a sub? The bracelet looks a little off, maybe a omega bracelet. I would never usually question a man with a knife but your across the nation so I think I'm safe.

OH yes my friend, very nice. Remember, shoot first and ask questions later..... Funny, I used to tell that to all my local cops when they would stop by the station or I'd see one on a call, then they started doing it and I haven't said it since. Cost the city millions. Be safe brother.

Local cop here where I live dont make enough to afford a Rolex. Unless they're dirt cop . lol The only LEO I notice that do wear Rolex around here are the state Trooper. If I'm not looking at what kind of watch they are wearing I'm look at their pistol.75% of them carry glock.

My horoscope did say today "wear Rolex and good things will come your way" Then I got the credit card bill in the mail & the horoscope was wrong!

I didn't wear my Sub at work when I first bought it, then I realized that unless I actually shot it or did something equally heinous, the worst I would ever do would be to scratch it. I was also afraid I'd put some of the other deputies out, as if I were showing off or something, but only two guys have noticed so far, and they had advanced warning! Now I wear it every day, just take it off before "hot" calls.

P.S., I carry a Glock, too. The Sub's tougher... I'd rather carry my H&K!

I wear mine to work, but I am a detective now and have long sleeves on every day. I would not have worn it when I was in patrol. Sorry no good pictures to share. Interesting thread though.

When people work hard and earn the things they get...

it shouldn't matter what they do. A police officer or a civil servant, they still work hard and deserve the things they buy. Evereyone is different. Don't want a Jet-ski or a fishing boat? Buy a Rolex? Personal choice.....Just my thought...

former LE. Rolex at the time would have been laughable. I wore a Luminox and my buddies at work thought I was insane for wearing a 200 dollar watch.

If you guys wearing subs are on patrol you're braver than I would be--you have to roll in the dirt with someone it might fall off or get really jacked up.

21 years LE. All in patrol. Never once would I think of wearing anything over $100. If even that.

Actually at work I use my nextel, pager or MDT to tell me what time it is. Don't wear a watch.

I know several local police and an ATF agent, an F.B.I. agent, and a D.E.A. agent who all wear Rolex to work. You can't break a Rolex. Any damage done can be fixed. SD can take the wear and tear a patrol shift can dish out.

Although I'm not in law enforcement, I have lots of friends who are... I'm a big supporter of those who choose to put their lives on the line to protect schmucks like me. Here's one noteable quote that stuck in my mind from one LEO member here...

Quote:
I’ve never owned a Sub or an SD, so I can’t comment on how tough they are.

All I know is that I’ve worn my GMT II on more the one hundred SWAT missions, kicking down doors, rappelling through windows, executing armed ship boarding, or dragging bad guys by their hair, crying and sniveling, through the windows of their BMW’s and onto the pavement. It’s been on for countless thousands of rounds of .45, 9mm, .223. It’s been covered in pepper spray, dry wall, broken glass, sweat, snot, and blood. I’ve been tasered twenty-five times in training with it on and rendered at least that many low-lifes unconscious while looking down at that gently sweeping second hand.

At the end of the day, the only bad thing I can say about my GMT II… it shows me just how late I am for that glass of cold beer.
A finer testimonial, I've never heard...

Austinsig, thank you. Chris, I used to wear a Luminox too, and it got noticed a LOT more, guess it was the blue face (still have/like it). Got tired of cheap watches getting torn up doing mundane things like eating lunch or answering the plastic phone in the office, and being inaccurate to boot! I had a "water resistant", "military" watch that got moisture inside during a gentle summer rain once, too, and until it stopped it was my "range" watch. I guess if the cops don't notice the Sub, no one will. Not a single citizen comment, from the trailer parks to the VERY affluent. So, I'm going to keep wearing it, especially in the light of the testimonials above, not to mention all the war vets' testaments to Rolex's durability!

Wore my Sub everyday from purchase date in April through to the end of September with no ill effects for the watch at all. Now been replaced as my on duty watch by the Pepsi GMT.
If the sh~t hits the fan, we both get covered !
Rolex and cops go together.....

I have only worn by GMT once to work. I too couldn’t handle the idea of getting scratches on it. So I just wear my Casio G-Shock and on the way home switch out watches.

My old platoon leader was a county cop and wore his gold "Easy Rider" GMT every day. I don't think he owned a second watch.

If you get it damaged in the line of duty shouldn't the Department pay to get it fixed? Be great if the Department had a deal with Rolex to provide subsidised maintenance.
Anyway Dave knives are cool. I used to work in a butcher's shop and one day I had a knife in one hand and a scrubbing brush in the other. The knife was to scrape off dried scaps of meat from the tile wall while I was cleaning it. Somehow I managed to stab myself while vigerously scrubbing the wall.
So I've learnt to be careful with knives

My department would not pay to replace or fix my Rolex. I think there is a certain amount they will pay for (probably no more than a couple hundred dollars) if something is damaged so I take a risk wearing it to work every day. I'm very careful with it and take it off if I think it will get damaged or scratched up. If I were back in patrol there is no way I'd wear it every day even though I know it could take the abuse. I've tried leaving it at home now, but I just hate being without it.

My dept. reimburses up to $62USD for a wristwatch broken while on duty. $62 !!! Maybe I could buy a new bezel insert for that.

I need to check our policy because $62 sounds in line with my department's way of thinking. If I had money to burn and didn't care about damaging my watch the look on the face of the brass when I turn in a request to have my Rolex LV Sub replaced at the department's expense would be priceless.
