How to buy a 14060m?

Hi - any advice on how to purchase a Rolex 14060m? I've never purchased a Rolex before, but have fallen in love with this watch.

What % of discount can one expect on a Z serial no-date sub. I prefer without the new COSC verbiage which is a marketing gimmick and clutters the dial.

Do you recommend out of state AD to avoid taxes? What are the good ADs?

What about online retailers that specialize in gray market? Should these be avoided?

Thanks.

You should get 5-10% off on one of those although discounts can be hard to come by as they are so popular and strong sellers. Discounts could be even harder now as we approach Christmas. Most ADs can sell at full price all the Sub No Dates and Sub Dates they get in.

Worth a try though. Ship out of state to avoid sales tax or buy your Rolex in a no sales tax state like Oregon.

Grey market if you find the right one can be ok. However you will not have the 2 year ROLEX warranty with a grey dealer. Only whatever warranty the grey offers. I won't recomend any greys to you as I have never used one. I go AD all the way for piece of mind and the experience of trying on and walking out the door with my purchase.

Oh and welcome.

Discounted price $3,845 at alanfurman.com, but they are a grey market dealer. It is a popular watch so ADs don't feel the need to discount it much.

Welcome to TRF!

I would always buy from an AD.

And I would say that it is likely to get 10 % off the 14060M Sub, depending on your negotiation skills.

Paying cash always helps!

Good luck!

Were in the country are you located? People might be able to check with their local AD's and see what kind of deal they can get you.

I could recommend a trusted grey dealer for about $3799. New in the box and never worn. No warranty!

where do you live? i was at the mall just yesterday and stopped by DeVon's jewelry in Arden Mall in Sacramento, Ca.

had one sitting in the case just looking at me. fortunately, i had my SD on and all i had to do was look down

was at retail price. not sure if they do discounts, but always worth a shot.

good luck, great looking timepiece.

Depends where you live.

They are not discounting them significantly here in the DC area.

The dealers that will do 10% refuse to ship to get around the tax!!!! So you are looking at really only 4-5 points off.

Another reason why I prefer to go 2nd hand. If this is your first one you may want to go the AD route. See if any other dealers will ship. You used to be able to get 15% off this model only a few years ago. Now it seems that dealers are as tight as theyare with the 16610.

That brings up a good point. Do you think these will become somewhat collectible in the future?

Ed,

Every SS Sub ever made is already in the "collectible' category. Some are just older and more rare than others, since this dial is discontinued, it will likely become the "new" 5513 in a few years.

Does anyone know if Rolex is now using higher grade chronometer parts for the 3130 movement in the new COSC certified 14060m?

Or is the new 14060m exactly the same watch as last year's model with the only exception being that Rolex is now having it tested by COSC?

Thanks. I've read that if you have a COSC certified watch that is running outside of the COSC specs, Rolex will adjust for free?

But what if you have a non-COSC certified watch? Will Rolex still regulate for free during the warranty period if it is running outside of COSC specs? Or do they say: tough luck, it's not certified?

Yes, Rolex WILL regulate your NON COSC watch, too, and IMHO COSC is just marketing hype. Many "Precision" or non COSC Rolex watches run MORE precise than the COSC ones.

I've heard that Rolex ratches up their prices each year, and that last year was a 10% increase? Any idea how radically they will inflate prices during the next rate hike? And when do they usually hike up the list prices?

Not EVERY year, but SOME of the watches really DO get a big tick up when Rolex makes price increases.

Now that is a very classy looking watch.
Does it have a blue dial and a black bezel ?
You say it is discontinued. What date is yours ?
You also say "Once the clean dials are gone they are gone for good". What do you mean by that as I am looking to buy a sub ?

You response and clarification will be appreciated.

I bought a second hand 14060M from a gent. It was about 3 months old IIRC. He had a nickel allergy. You can find deals. I got it for around $2700, FWIW.
