How do you measure the time accuracy of your watch?

I've read many times in the posts that "my watch is running -/+1sec a day". How do you guys measure the time accuracy of your watch? I'm new to that!

Go to the app store and search for "Emerald Time." It's an awesome (free) app! It will also tell you how far off the time is on your iDevice.

The only one worth considering IMHO is the Gorgy Timing Atomic Clock available from the app store. Extremely accurate, and calibrates upon start up. The best thing is it has an audible beep at every sec interval, so you don't even have to look at it.

The Awyse atomic clock app isn't bad either.

I warn you though, if you're OCD, having an atomic clock app and a new Rolex can get troublesome. :)

I now use the TimeTicker app. I previously used time.gov. If you aren't sure of the technique, the goal is to synchronize your watch with the source you are using and notate the change, if any, after some period, typically 24 hours.

To the OP: You use a reference (www.time.gov, atomic clock, etc.) and you synchronize the watch to it. You wait one full week and check at same time of day.

Then divide the difference in time by the 7 days.

My DJ settled in to +0.7 to +0.9 sec/day after 2 months and has been that way for the last 6 months. I must say I am preparing to stop checking for a while.

Emerald Time app, Atomic G-Shock and one of our station SMPTE clocks, or one of our commercial GPS clock receivers. They are all in sync.

A good watch repair place has a device that figures that out along with things like amplitude, other words I know not what they mean, but when I have my guy check watches he hooks it up to a mini watch EKG like shown in previous posts.

Emerald time says my iPhone is off by 165 seconds. Anyway to sync the phone to emerald time, or am I out of luck. It's not like I can pull the battery out of the iPhone
