Your TOPMOST PRIORIY when buying a Rolex!!
Hi guys,
Pretty basic stuff, but very important. What would you consider your most important priority when buying a new Rolex? Easy....check the DIAL with a 10x loupe. If you don't have one, borrow the AD's loupe, but make sure you carry out a thorough examination of the DIAL for at least 2~3 minutes. Take you own sweet time......this is what you look for:- 1. Any lint or minute dust particle on the dial. 2. Check all the words and lettering for printing flaws. 3. Check for any dots or tiny scratches on the dial. 4. Check for luminova "overflow" over the WG or YG surrounds. If you do all of the above BEFORE you plonk down a single cent, you will have complete peace of mind once you've taken your new Rolex home. As for the rest of the watch.......well, I don't think you need really worry. The bracelet, clasp and watchcase are well protected with the protective stickers and will not scratch. So remember, guys.....it's the DIAL you really have to be concerned about.....just because Rolex quality control does tend to slacken at times. Good luck - JJ

1. Do they take American Express? I get double warranty, price insurance, and accident insurance for 90 days.
2. Are they nice to me? Will I feel like shopping there again? Is it their privilege to serve me or my privilege to shop there? 3. Can I bring the watch back in 30 days if in perfect shape for no reason? 4. Will they be honest with me? 5. Will they be as nice to me on my 1,002nd visit as they were to me on my 2nd? |

6. Ask Rolex to check the "JJ Flip Database" to perform an exhaustive search of all Rolexes JJ may have owned at one time.

For that and all the publicity I've given them these 3 decades, I deserve a new TT GMT-II.....as a gift, of course, from Rolex!!

Rolex QC is pretty spot-on 99.99% of the time. It just pays to take that wee bit of extra care. JJ

JJ,
Some things to add..... - Check the crystal, bezel, bracelet for scratches....people try them on, ADs buff them. - make sure the serial # on the back of the watch is not worn. - Check the serial number if possible.....Make sure it was made recently D, Z or M. |
