Making a move to AP... Concerns!

Hi guys. I've been thinking of making the step up to an AP for my next purchase. However, I'm a bit concerned about the steel bezel picking up dings and scratches. I've seen some preowned models for sale with pretty horrendous gashes in them. Question is what do you guys think? Are they like butter? I'd really appreciate some pics of daily worn roo's etc. there seems to be a lot of pics of brand new ones on the site so far and not many 'lived in' watches.

Specifically, I'm thinking of getting either the new 41mm royal oak or a ROO black themes (on bracelet). Any opinions on which would be the best choice between these two?

Thanks in advance!

All depends how careful you are with your watches.
The facets are very sharp and they tend to be the part where dents shows more.

A AP bezel can be polished 4-5 times without loosing its original shape, after that there is always replacement bezels.

For me the 15400 looks way to big on me, So the Black Themes would be my pick.

Congrats in advance!

I only wear my ROC with long sleeves and break out the Daytona or Sub otherwise.

I use my ROC but try to be careful. Dispite that, I have added som battlescars. It's not that the steel is soft or anything, but the brushed finish really does show damages well when they go against the direction of the original finish.

This is nothing that should stop you, just something to be aware of. I use my sub-c nodate if I know I can ding it ;)

Yes I had a 15300 and while it was awesome it did scratch easily, much more so than my Rolex Sub.

Depends on how careful you are with your things...mine is 2 years old now with no significant dings/scratches.

I'm careful with mine and don't have any marks. It will attract them though if you don't watch it.

I'm sorry to hi jack this thread.

Thomas- Does the 15400 wears larger than a ROO?

If you're worried about steel bezels, go for the RubberClad, BumbleBee or a ceramic bezeled ROO.

I'm not overly careful and mine still looks great. In the year or so I have owned the 15300 I only picked up one small scratch.

I just enjoy them and don't care about scratches or dings.

I've had my Diver for little over a year and I've worn it as it was meant to be worn (i.e. in the pool, at the beach, in the shower, at the playground with the kids...). Is it in NM condition? Hardly, but then it's far from being beaten up either. I'd post a pic, but none of the pics I've taken are able to pick up the two minor scratches on the bezel, or the slight scuff on the outer edge of said bezel. Basically, it's nothing worth writing home about and certainly nothing that takes away from the pleasure of wearing such an amazing watch.

Regards,
Adam

PS - On the other hand, my Jumbo is in mint condition, but then it ought to be given that it just returned from Clearwater. That said, I have every reason to believe that it will hold up even better than the Diver owing to its far slimmer profile.

Regarding the RCs, can bezel damage be experienced on these (i.e. quotidien scratches and whatnot), or would this generally only happen if a properly sharp object has a go at 'digging' out a chunk of the rubber?

Or to rephrase, can the bezel be damaged 'incidentally', or rather only with a particular or deliberate event - like strapping your ROO to your forehead and doing this...

Thanks in advance!

No it doesn't, But the dial does and the bezel looks to thin imo.
