Hi All,

I'm new here and looking to get my first Rolex. I really want the Air King, blue dial with stick marks so I'm going the pre-owned route since Rolex no longer produces this version. I found a couple on eBay and would appreciate any feedback on real vs fake.

this one is priced well, but I'm not sure if it's actually a deal?

this next one is pricier, but it is newer...no papers or boxes with either..

which would you choose? the older one appears to have a 1520 movement, the latter I think has a 3130? Movements look real to me, but would appreciated a 2nd opinion...I've read going older is better to avoid fakes, but I'm always open to advice on this topic.

Both are original the first one is 25 years older, plastic crystal with slow beat rate movement. I would pay up to 1800 for the older one, 2400 for new one regards

David - Thanks for the second eye, and for the pricing information! Now I know the difference between a good or bad deal when shopping around for my Air King. That kind of information is invaluable! Thanks again.

First off welcome to TRF. Aside from price and authenticity you ought to be sure you want a small diameter case 34 mm.

Maybe try some Air Kings on at a local shop selling used Rolex. You need to see how they look vs. a 36 mm Datejust for example or a 40 mm Submariner.

Thanks for the advice 77T! I've actually tried on DJs before, but recently fell in love with the simplicity of the Air King. I'll stop by a dealer some time this week to try some on and make sure I'm ok with 34mm. Wish I was in Atlanta this week, I see that Ermitage has a 5500 for sale. I've seen some decent comments on that shop searching through the archives.
