Pets pics

Sometimes I think she has it better than me. One pic with short hair the other with long hair. Best dog in the world.

This photo accompanied an article in the local newspaper regarding Hobbes' retirement after her 8 years as my police dog partner. She never got used to anyone pointing anything as us; even a camera. She was growling at the photographer as this was being taken. When she retired, people asked if I was going to get another dog to work with. That thought never crossed my mind. She was my constant companion during her 14 years on earth and was one in a million. I'm pretty sure that dogs go to heaven. If they don't, when I die, I want to go where they are. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her.

Here are a few. Maggie, the Golden stays in our pool 8 hours a day. Ive had a few other goldens in the past that loved water but nothing like her. The 2 Pugs are Preston (the older one with grey hair) and Gizmo (the younger one) They are from the same parents, a breeder in OK but Preston is 6.5 years older. My wife had him before we met but the breeder called us saying that the parents were getting old and the litter Gizmo came from would be the last litter they had. We got 2 puppies from that litter and we weren't supposed to keep either as they were a gift to my wife's Mom and Grandmother but I couldn't give Gizmo up. He was the runt of the litter but was so friendly. My wifes Mom said she really didn't want to do the puppy thing right then so we kept him. We picked 2 two puppies up at the Philly Airport the Day after Thanksgiving in 2010. Its amazing how much joy animals can bring to your home.

I had a friend who had a golden who loved water so much you could throw a ball let it sink to the bottom of his 8ft pool and he would dive and get it. these dogs are amazing, to bad my.chow HATES the water. you mention the word bath and she runs from you.

Our pool is only 6.5 feet at the bottom because we live 250 yards from the ocean and the water table is very high and we are only 7 ft above sea level. We had to use gunite (basically concrete.). She will also dive down to the bottom of the pool to get her toys but HATES the bath and water hoses. She also hates the ocean. Our pugs will run into the ocean and love the waterhose too. So strange. The eldest pug, Preston, hates the pool and even in his life jacket swims right to the side. Gizmo is better and will jump off the side if we are in the pool and swim to us. Still he doesn't swim that well and needs a life jacket. Both pugs love getting baths and blow dried. Our dogs are so peculiar.
