Good digital sport/fitness watch?

What do you guys think? I'm looking for a new watch for the gym, running, hiking, the shooting range, etc. I've seen alot of guys running around with Suunto watches lately but I've read mixed reviews.

Really I just need a chronograph, alarm, countdown timer, temperature, and maybe a compass. I'd love to have a heart rate monitor but don't want to wear one of those chest straps.

What do you guys wear or recommend?

Depends what you need it for? I have a polar ft7, a basic model but all I need it for is heart rate to ensure i'm in the zone and the workout summary. You will need to wear a chest strap to havea heart rate monitor.

Sounds like you just need a Gshock?

I had a Pathfinder, which had everything you could possibly want-- compass, altimeter, etc. I think they're made by Suunto. My worked fine, didn't get a whole lot of use, but the one I gave my son was junk. I didn't use mine much-- just hiking in the mountains kind of use-- and you need the instructions to really utilize it properly. I found nothing to be intuitive about the controls. Had I used it regularly, that would not have been a problem. I gave mine to my son, and it's still working fine.

Garmin Forerunner 610

I got some piccies here:

Still going strong after one year. Very useful if you will mostly run. Rugged enough for general gym activities and the battery lasts long enough with the GPS off.
