DSSD vs. Fifty Fathoms
I am currently debating my next dive watch acquisition. I really like the DSSD and the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. My only watch at the moment is a Breitling Steelfish with a white dial. So I come to you RF to see what you would think is the better option of the two.
Either way I go, I do not plan on babying this watch. I wear my steelfish all the time and plan on alternating between the SF & the new purchase. I plan on diving with them as well. So RF, what are the pro's/con's of the DSSD & fifty fathoms. What would you pick? |

Features aside, I'd lean towards the stronger maker - Rolex IMHO.

The Fifty Fathoms is a nice watch but would prefer the DSSD.

45mm wide and 15.4mm tall for the Blancpain is one reason why the DSSD is not really all that large at 44mm and 18mm tall it's only 2.6mm taller but narrower by a mm and due to dial sizes is going to appear smaller top down.
I say DSSD as I'm a bracelet guy and IMO the DSSD bracelet is the best there is, bar none, even with the taper as it makes the DSSD fit me better with a 6.75 inch wrist. |

Deepsea - the better choice between the two, hands down.

The Blancpain has more style IMHO. I wear my BP Trilogy more than my Rolex SD.

Blancpain are pretty looking watches but you should do more research about the movement reliability. 2 reliable sources who sell/sold Blancpain had expressed their reservations.
But it's whatever you want and like that's more important.

lets be real. there is no comparison truly. you are on a rolex forum, but the FF is much more watch. on all levels, the FF is just so much nicer.....
that said, most FF's come with a band that is not really suitable for water. that aside, IMHO absolutely zero comparison....

Blancpain FF for me
It wears smaller than you'd believe a 45 mm watch could

It would be the Blancpain for me. I can't afford to widen all the doorways in my house to accommodate the DSSD.

I tried on the FF several times, too big at 45mm and the design of the bezel makes it look like that size as well. Great pedigree though.
DSSD in this case (but the right answer is a SubC No date ;-)) |

Loved my DSSD but wanted the AP ROO Diver in my life more :)
But, will get a DSSD again sometime. The way you say you'll wear it, you would be better off with a DSSD.
