GP, why so much love?

There is similar tread (by Mike) about RB2, but I want to ask why there are so much love for GP?

I am talking mostly about FC version here

I never had a change to see one other than on pictures so just as with RB2 its hard to spend so much money on a watch without trying it on first. I couldn't find anyone who has one on my recent travels.

I am looking to add RG and SS 44 mm to my collection, let me know why would you go for GP over new 44 mm ROO.
If any members here have one, please post wrist shots, opinions

the GP almost like the RB II has become an idolized watch by AP enthusiasts. the look on the RBii is more sleek and elegant. the GP is sportier and it wraps itself around your wrist more so than the RBii. it is in my opinion one of the ultimate AP's pound per pound.

first allow me to say that, yes, i was in the same boat when i just saw it on pictures. i liked it and thought it was very cool, but was not in love.
as fate would have it i went into the AD and upon conversing on irrelevant subjects, the GP came up and they told me they have it. i saw it, and i KNEW i was in trouble .. big, big trouble
i went into a frenzy, i just HAD to have it. i still remember that day, wow :)

second, i cannot emphasize on how you need to see the watch under different lights to start appreciating it. the case, the bezel, the dial, the pushers, the screws, the strap, the everything will come alive. again, under different lights is key!

third, i did see the RBII in real life, and i tried it on, but unfortunately i did not have the GP on me at the time; however, personally, i asked myself would i give up my GP for an RBII? and sorry but ABSOLUTELY NOT .. to me, the GPC is so much a better AP all around .. and i say this when i ove, love the rb2

fourth, i have owned a SS ROO (panda) and a FC ROO (bumblebee), and the GP wears a LOT more comfortably. the strap is so great as is the tang buckle

if you like RED on watches, then you will LOVE the GP
if you like the size of 44mm, then you will LOVE the GP
if you like forged carbon as AP does it, you will love the GP
in fact, you might only not like the GP in real life if you do not like it in pics

if you see it in real life, i am certain you will just realize how ridiculously awesome it is !!

not sure how to help otherwise but please feel free to ask any specific questions :) that will be easier

Thank you for your great review of GP
Here is my problem, I am set on adding SS and RG 44 mm ROO to my collection and I already own FC 44 mm. Something has to go, having all 3 of new 44 mm ROO would be fun but I think 2 of the same line is the max I should keep.

I do love my FC 44 mm, I actually love the way it does many "black watch" effects under different light but I also love the cleanness of the dial, pure black. Thats the reason I got it - was looking for "black watch".
Looking at the pictures of GP with red and yellow colors ...not sure...well but its hard to make that call by looking at the pictures.

I have a chance to trade in my FC 44 mm for GP but not sure I can let FC 44 go ...hard decision..

as a bb wearer now, i know exactly where you are coming from with that comfort zone the ceramic bezel provides. however i must say that unless you 'hit' the bezel here or there, the scratches will not be visible.
more importantly, if you really 'bang' the bezel, i am sure it will dent or ding or something like that, BUT given the finishing, this should only be visible under scrutiny and with up-close-unnatural-inspection. what i am trying to say is that, having owned an SS bezel ROO, the scratch/hairline/ding/dent will not be visible from your sight-level.
of course, if you are considering resale into the mix, sure it cannot be listed as LNIB but i would venture to say that any WEARER would be willing to pay that bit less knowing that the watch has been broken in ;)

i completely agree, 3 versions of the newer 44 will be overkill ;)
i also subscribe to the beauty of the black dial motif as i catch myself admiring it under different lights on the bumble, and i am sure the FC-44 does it better with the extra surface area!
if you are in love with that "rich blackness" then i think the GP will prove too colorful for your taste. yup, the yellow and red are prominent. it is a taste thing i guess, as i personally love it (and why i prefer it on aesthetics over an RB2 for one thing) but totally understand how it is not for everyone (do not forget the red sides on the strap)
tough decision for you, but i am certain you will KNOW more of what you want and what works once you see the gpc in real life and play with it.

let me know if i can help in ANY WAY

Beli e it or not...thre was a time a couple of years back when I really didn't like the GP.
Much because of the the grey parts on the case on the pushers and 9' o clock side.

But having the pleasure of trying it on over several times over the years I must say I really love it now!!!

The color scheme on the ial really pops with the stealth FC, And the GP strap is one of he most comfortable I know.

The GP is cool, but a lil busy for me... I do like the red in it tho. How about we combine the black/red leather strap on the FC as Eddie did. It looks great together. I called AP in NYC the other day to order, they have it in stock and pretty cheap ($317).

Great write up guys.

Bogdan if you add GP it would be a great piece, but with FC I think overkill.

If you didn't have FC then no brainier. I say that, but for my tastes maybe just a little too much color, but that may not bother you.

Now if you want both then GP would be a great piece to add.

I personally would be hard pressed to flip FC for GP.

If you want another 44mm why not RG?

The GP is a cool watch and the colors truly pop. Would I want it as my only AP? No definitely not. Is it an RBII? No definitely not. Is it a cool watch to have in a collection? Definitely!! Great pics all and great reviews of a great watch!! Perhaps someday I will add one but for now...

bogdan, at the end of the day its the one that you like the most what really matters. if the ginza blows your mind then go for it. the FC I believe is not going to be a limited production so you'll see many more of those around ( by no means I'm being biased towards the FC,in fact I love the damn FC as well). good luck with your choice.

I traded my GPC for a 44mm RG, never looked back. I just did not like the carbon bezel on the GPC, looked like it had dents on it and was too "rough". considering getting the 44mm FC soon.
