Rolex Service Question(s)

Are the official Rolex Service Centers on equal par with each other? Does one have better time service than the others? I know someone who prefers to have a certified jeweler (who has several watch repair certifications) perform the regular service on his Rolex. Is this advisable or should one utilize only an official Rolex Service Center? Does anyone know how often a Rolex Precision manual wind needs to be serviced? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

USAA insurance is even better than Rolex in Switzerland!! Dont believe me? Just ask them!

Sorry, that is kinda an inside joke with me and what USAA insurance is doin with my Rolex claim. To answer your question, I have only used Rolex in New York, 100% satisfied!

Glenn,
I've had service performed by all three RSCs here. All have done good work, but if I had to pick Beverly Hills did a wonderfull job on my 5513. Their regulation was just supurb.

I think a good Rolex watchmaker can do as good a job, but I'm one of those guys that think nobody does case work like an RSC.
And, of course, no one can provide the paperwork an RSC can.

Glen,

First, Welcome to The Rolex Forums..

There is no reason why a good watchmaker cannot do an excellent job of servicing any Rolex and keeping it in top condition for it's lifetime..

An advantage to the RSC is the sheer numbers of repairs and the knowledge there. It is unlikely they will be unable to pinpoint any problems or potential problems and stop them in their tracks.. They also replace parts that they consider expendible, essentially returning a watch that is in "like new" condition. Their bracelet refinish is second to none..

It is recommended that a mechanical watch be serviced every 5 to 7 years to avoid a very damaging metal-to-metal condition..

Welcome to TRF!

I guess the quality of the service that the various RSC's provide it pretty much the same.

I for my part can only praise Rolex RSC Cologne highly, especially for the job of refinishing the case of a SS Sub Date that was involved in an accident some years ago. The Sub came back as new!

Thanks for the info.

Thanks to everyone who took time to respond to my questions. The info was very helpful. Based on everyone's input it appears RSCs do a great job....regardless of which one. Thanks again. Glen

When shipping back & forth to the service centre, what about insurance coverage? Or, for you that UPS/FedEx from the AD, how do you cover that? Anyone ever address that question?

USPS registered mail--by far the safest. In the U.S.

I have the same question to the guys in Aus., I hear the Melbourne RSC is good, not sure about Sydney. I am in Brisbane and although there is a Rolex shop here, I think they send all their service work down to Melbourne. I don't really want to use a none Rolex service shop so any thoughts anyone, thanks.

Thanks Matyo, we have top looking ladies up here in Brisbane, every where I go there is eye candy galore What I really need is a top Rolex service centre where I know my watch will be in good hands. Thanks anyway, I shall certainly make a point of checking them out next time I am in Melbourne (next March)
