Hello everyone, I've been lurking around the AP forums for a couple of weeks now. I can't stop thinking about purchasing an AP ROO Safari. It's odd because I remember a year or two ago on the Rolex forums WRUW daily threads members would post pictures of Their ROO's and I just didn't get it. They did nothing for me. Now after some time and gaining some more insight from fellow members I think the AP Safari may be my grail.

Anyway, I'm a very impulsive person and I do not want to drop close to
$18k without putting some serious thought into it. Just curious as to how AP ROO's hold their value as opposed to other luxury brands such as Rolex. Not that I would ever consider selling it but just for peace of mind. None of my WIS friends know much about AP's and I very rarely even see them in the wild or for sale. Any other advice or enabling would be greatly appreciated. Thanks TRF!

Good decision on the Safari! Unfortunately, AP doesn't have the same residual that Rolex or PP have. If you get it on the secondary market you'll be fine but new, expect up to a 40% hit on RRP depending on model.

All watches take a hit.

Simple, get the best discount u can, and enjoy your watch.

I've had a Rolex that took a huge hit, but if you stress about that from day one you will never buy a watch.

AP does require a great discount. AP is starting to go to allocation, which will bring discounts down and balance out secondary market.

Get what you want--Safari is a GREAT AP watch to jump into the AP waters.

Get with DavidSW and he will most likely have best discount.

I saw that one submarino.....tempting. He also has one with a tiny ding on the bezel for $2.5K less. Knowing me I would get the BNIB and bang it on something a minute later. Thanks everyone for the responses!

Don't worry about the bezels. Look at this scratch on one of my ROOs. I still love it and enjoy it. If I were you I would get the one with the tiny ding. After a few months you'll have a ding for sure.

Save the $2.5k and get the used one. You will bang it in no time since its a pretty tall watch. But it's great regardless and you'll enjoy it.

Brad - I just picked up the safari and love it!

I'm new to AP but love the finish and the feel. I have the Diver and Safari right now - I like bigger watches and both are extremely comfortable to me.

As others have said with AP you either have to be OK with taking the "hit" or you have to buy it to "right". Your actual "cost" will depend on how you buy it.

DavidSW is a good start...I don't have an AP AD in my area but I am very comfortable dealing with him on any brand

The Safari is a great watch!
I still have the same safari i bought 5-6 years ago.. it has scratches and dings but i love it. For the moment i have the montoya strap with white stitches on and it looks super. Matches the dial :)

Thats the only AP i never sold, the dial is perfect in my opinion. Matches everything..

I wont go wrong with Safari. It's great watch. Sporty and classy.
I heard but not sure that ROO 42mm case will be discontinued soon.
The new ROO 44mm will replace them.

A great choice. I want the Panda ROO oh so bad, but have other things to attend to first. It's tough because I know now is the time I should get it....
