Trade (2) SD16600s for (1) 116660?
Hello,
A person has offered me 2 seadwellers, SD4000, both immaculate condition with boxes and all, to trade evenly with my DeepSea, V-series, also immaculate with boxes and all. One of the SD is a D-series and the other is an F-series. 1) will you do this trade? 2) Who ends up winning or is it an even trade? 3) If this is not an even trade, then who puts in cash and how much? 4) Something tells me that DEEPSEA, even though it will be available for the next few years, its value is gonna rise more than an SDs, due to its bulk and size. Maybe I am wrong, I don't know. It has already crossed the $12K MSRP barrier. thank you |

To me it seems like you would be the winner getting two sd's, but I've become a big fan of the sd over the past few months. The experts will be along shortly with better knowledge.
Have you worn the sd before? Do you like it? Do you love your deep sea? Do you use the glide lock often? Things to think about...

By the way. I do not mind having multiple same references. As my login name suggests, I am into divers only. Not really concerned about variety. I just love steel divers. So the more the merrier. |

I dont think thats a fair deal for the other person...I hope they are both legit watches you are trading for (meaning not stolen serial numbers, not frankened watches) But if its 100% legit, it would be a great deal for you as you can purchase a 116660 anytime anywhere.

So let me rephrase my question a little bit: Will the collective resale value of 2 SDs keep pace with the resale value of DSSD?
In other words, will the value of 2 SDs come pretty darn close to the resale value of one DSSD? Because maybe in the future, I wana liquidate 2SDs and get one DSSD for them. thanks, |

The 2 used SD's would be worth about $11K together and the one used DSSD about $9K I'm guessing.

Yes. Anything that is discontinued always goes up. It will be very easy to liquidate your classic sd's

Now this is getting trickier...
You already have a SD, you love your deep sea and you want to speculate on the future value of SD's... I would just say keep your deep sea and continue to wear it and your SD at your discretion. Good luck with your decision

Plus the DSSD looks so killer in front of an SD, that it is hard to let go.
It is so superior to the SD in anywhich way you look and it is hard to let go of such a chunky watch for 2 normal watches ...... |

Honestly what's the difference ? $2k ? What on earth are you going to do with 3 SD's ? Bang them in a safe and hope they are worth more money some day ?
You say you love your DSSD so just keep it. The two used SD's will barely get you a new DSSD and then you have to go through the trouble of selling them. I would honestly pass. You sound like you like your DSSD a lot. |

The two SDs are worth more than the DSSD so you can sell those two, make some profit and buy another DSSD in mint condition.

sounds like I am in a win-win situation --- yes, the thought of 3 sds makes me go "what the hell???" , but that's a good problem to have---- I consider steel divers to be like real-estate --- it is ok for me to have two identical watches especially when the Rolex Diver selection is so limited. But I also
got to act quick because if he goes public with his offer, there might be many takers ...... I am not looking to make profit --- all I want is a guarantee that in the future, I can always liquidate 2 pristine SDs for one pristine DSSD, and the answer seems to be yes ... But the strange thing is how come the seller does not sell the two SDs independently, pocket the $11,000, then shell out $9K for a pristine DSSD and still pocket the $2K ???? That's what I would do......something is not quite right ---- thank you all for your kind advices and responses..... |

I'd trade in a second, although in your situation, what are you going to end up doing? Selling the 2 SDs just to buy another DS? You'll probably profit but you're going to need to do some legwork.

2-4 yrs down the line. I am just trying to make sure that the resale of 2-SDs will always be very close to the resale of a pristine used DSSD. That's all. Yes, I don't know what I will be doing with 3 SDs --- wear one on my wrist, one on my ankle and tape the other to my forehead! ha ha ha .... -- but the deal seems to have a built in profit for me ---I know I can not lose.....I think.... |

the legwork might be why he doesn't want to sell the SD's and buy the DSSD.
I'd do it and sell one and put the other on a NATO.

Honestly, I would give up a DSSD for just one 16600, so getting two is a no brainer for me.
