16803

Hey TRF im iscratching my head here I have an opportunity to purchase a 16803 8 million serial number the only thing is its not running. So it will need some TLC. Not trying to offer too much since I'll have to pay for the servicing. How much is too much for a non working 16803?

Thanks James.

hi it is an unaswerable question, it just depends on how many parts you need in the movement, if it's waterdamaged, you can run up a 2000 grand bill easy if lots of internal parts need replacing and you take it to rolex service center as lke with cars you can buy the 2 of the cars new for the individual costs of each and every spare part needed to build one, if it's just a service well that also depends on where you are getting it done, can cost between 300 at an independent watchmaker and 800 at rolex.

Thanks for the info I'll have to ask the seller more about the watch.

James, first off welcome to TRF. Next, there are no number of questions that will lead you to a good decision without more experienced help. Here's my suggestion:

1. do some research on what a good condition 8-mil. 16803 fetches.

2. if you and seller are close geographically, meet at a certified watchmaker or AD to have them go over the item.

3. get an estimated repair cost and deduct it from the price you determined in step 1.
