My new (old) FrankenSub...

I got a very good deal on a 5513 sub, 8.7mil s/n puts it as a 1984 I believe (is that considered vintage?). The price was right because a) it has a glossy service dial, and original tritium hands - looks a bit off. b) no dot, and c) head only.

As i'm interested in wearing it and enjoying it, i'm not concerned with the original dial vs. service dial, but the patina'd hands vs the new white markers are bothering me a bit. So I plan on sending it down to Rik, who I love for the wonderful work he did on my Sea Dweller and a Bell & Ross Space 3 that needed some attention. He will install a dot, trade in the trit hands for a set of new luminova hands and do a full service, as while I was told it was serviced within a "few years", especially with the acrylic crystal, I'd like to have a reference point.

Here is an iPhone shot of it on a nato strap I had laying around. The difference in color between the luminova dial and the trit hands is much more noticible in person...

I think I want an all black strap, so I have to decide on whether to get a Rubber B (which will require me to find a sub clasp) or put it on a nice black nato strap from Time Factors (which is on the way, ordered in advance of the arrival of the 5516)

Anyway, there you go.
