Aquanaut - Daryll Deputado is a scammer

Be aware:
Daryll Deputado
Jugan, consolacion cebu, 6014
Cebu city, Philippines
639179524636

has been trying to sell a Patek Philippe Aquanaut.
Very convincing seller, he has extensive pictures of the watch and the watch checks out (I called Patek with all the numbers for verification) and so does his story. I have had email and telephone contact with him (the above mobile number was working at the time - not sure if it still works)
Upon transfer of funds the watch wasnt shipped. We agreed that the watch would be sent immediately after receipt of funds but two days later I still had no Fedex tracking number (different excuses from his side). Thankfully I used Paypal and three days after the transaction I immediately filed a dispute and claim for refund of funds due to non-shipment of the watch.

Paypal does not accept emails as evidence but since the seller had not answered their investigative questions the funds were automatically returned to me. One case where Paypal was a life-saver!

Avoid dealing with this guy!
Greetings

D

I am just curious if it is an echeck paypal you sent to the seller.

Is there such a thing as echeck paypal for international transactions? I am not sure myself.

paypal

To be honest, I am not sure what it was actually called.
I simply transferred a payment to the seller. For reason of payment I made sure to put in a very exact description of the watch including the words "genuine (not fake) undamaged not stolen original..." etc - I was advised by Paypal to make the full payment for the watch and not a deposit or downpayment. Deposits and downpayments are not covered in their protection scheme. I never saw anything describing my payment as a check of sorts. You do have to make sure to file any claims within, I believe, 45 days of payment. In this case I already filed 3 days after payment. With the alotted time Paypal gives the other party to respond, my funds were recovered in just over two weeks.

D,

Good to know that you were able to recover your funds in this case. Was this Deputado a member of TRF? Where did you find the for sale ad on this watch?

Good that you recovered your funds. How much PayPal charged you for their services ? Do you have any guess as to why this guy spent that much time trying to scam someone , but agreed to use PayPal ?

deputado/paypal

- He was on Ebay, If he is or was a member of TRF then I think he is definitely not using the same name. On Ebay he was "darsdp" and his nic on hotmail appeared as "dars dep"
- Paypal did not charge me anything. I was a buyer. I am not sure what the charge would have been had I been a seller. I think that the guy might have "sold" his watch twice (or more) simultaneously. In any case, once would be enough as he would have picked up several thousand bucks (Usd). I suspect he would have withdrawn the cash straight away, leaving Paypal hanging for the funds. Paypal buyer protection is guaranteed if you dont get the purchased merchandise (as long as you file within 45 days after payment). The seller was given time to respond to Paypal's inquiry but since he had not responded to my own emails anymore I knew that he would never reply to Paypal.

One note of caution that might not have been clear in my previous description: I did contact Patek Switzerland by telephone but never got the owners name from them. They only confirmed the year and country of purchase and that the watch exists and that it had not been reported as stolen or missing in their database. The owners name and registration with ebay and paypal appeared to match (both in Philippines) but I have no guarantee or evidence that somebody with that name really exists (I doubt that that was his real name).
