Sea Dweller Trade

About to swap my 16600 from 2008 for a Panerai 243. Straight exchange no money changing hands. Am I doing a good thing or am I about to make a big mistake. Help needed - thank you all.

Well if you want to change go for it we cannot say if it will be a mistake or not, so if you do change any mistake is down to you..

I had an Panerai but sold it again since the comfort in my opinion is not as good af the comfort of Rolex sports watches. I have an SD 16600 and would NEWER sell it for an Panerai.

I prefer the SD but the 243 is a classic PAM with a great look.
The 44mm case is definately more bulked up than the SD but can be pretty comfortable on the strap.
Go for it if it's calling out to you.
If you check out Nishant's recent pics on the Panerai sub forum you will likely be pushed over the edge...

I like the look of the 243 (and the 24). If you like it, go for it.

Which watch do you want to own and wear more?

I would not do it.

I would do it . . . NEVER for a 243 . . .

Just my .02

But for the one pictured underneath . . . . it would be a really hard decision for me . . !

I say do it if you like the 243. The Sea Dweller is the better watch, but you already have a Sub. Could be a nice change of pace for you. Good luck!

Naw, would never trade the SD for the PAM. I thought about it as well, but in the end couldn't let a Rolex(especially a classic like SD) go for a PAM. If you're getting the "itch" for a new watch, add another one, or trade the SD for a different Rolex.

Rolex over PAM any day of the week.

I think you are about to make a big mistake, SD 4000 is much more popular than the Panerai among the diving community

Yikes!! Don't do it. A 2008 Dweller is practically the perfect watch IMO.

While the 243 is one of the few PAM models that I like - it's something about the brand that I just can't fall in love with, or ever trade for a Rolex.

It's entirely your choice though. If the 243 "does it" for you, and the SD doesn't, then that might be the choice for you. I think you will regret it 5+ years down the road though.

Good luck!
