John Santos, Toronto Canada, An admistrative beware!
This short but true tale, is a small insight into the day in the life of a moderator, and not limited to myself, but all in administration involved here on TRF~!
So a public outing if you will.... Yesterday, a John Santos was found to be skirting the rules of the TRF FS section. Naturally, I (as I am required to), clean up the transgressions to be fair to all those using the free service of the sales boards. This, by the way, is a privilege not a right! So I narrate a short, to the point PM in order to explain the wrong doings from John, with the hope of clearing up the issues at hand. Here is my PM to him: Quote:
Most of the time, we get a quick response with acceptance for missing the mark, as far as being within the required and expected FS section rules.....and mostly, a heart felt apology. This would not be the case this time.. The reply I received (and all of us have from time to time), was not only unexpected, but completely out of line and borderline psychotic , without reason or any kind of respect. Here it is: Quote:
A rather obnoxious and completely ignorant, without warrant, response! This thread, is posted for two reasons. First is, avoid this individual on any other forum you may happen to cross paths! Second, is to give you all a small view into the world of moderation....... It's not as Rosie as some may think! Last but not least, although this does happen more times than it should, I'd like to add, the high majority of our members are superb human beings, it's a shame we get these bad apples souring a good thing here at TRF!

This is a rather stupid, immature and spoiled brat-ish reply indeed. I'm quite glad this man is now banned from our community and I for one will remember this thread and make sure I never deal with such a man.
Rob (and, of course, all the moderators), a big thank you for all your good work! There are bad apples here and there indeed but, as you said, it's far from being the majority of the forum. We all (or almost, let's count this man out of the bunch) appreciate your presence around here!

Ah yes, the disgruntled offender. I've taken my share of abuse from the moderator's seat, and I salute you. It is a thankless and important job.
So let me make it thankful instead: Thanks for working tirelessly to ensure that the rest of us only see a welcoming, well-intentioned community. That's what this place looks like to me, and I know you mods are the reason why. Cheers. |

sorry to hear that you were treated in such a manner, this forum is better off without people like that. It's looks like a hard job being a moderator, keep up the good work Rob and don't let mindless idiots get to you.

Wow, what a jerk. That was WAY out of line, and treating people with such nasty disregard is a terrible way to exist as a human being. Shame on him ,and sorry that he took that tone with you.

WOW calling this guy psychotic is being polite! Poor excuse for a human being I say.
Never even crossed my mind that Mods receive such unwarranted abuse. Thanks for the post.

Good job getting rid of this POS. I can't imagine buying a watch from someone like that.
Thank you for sharing, Rob. Must not be fun dealing with psychological abuse out of nowhere sometimes. |

Wow, talk about overreacting!
Some people should really get help. Did you ban him Rob? Excellent job either way, this community is hands down the finest I know on the net, and I appreciate being apart of it.

The mods here do a great job in making this a fun, safe, and enjoyable place to hang out, thumbs up to all of them, and just let me say that I' ve seen a couple of things in the past couple of days that don't exactly make me proud to be Canadian, luckily we are generally nicer people than the couple of bad apples of the last few days.
Thanks |

When I had my 16520 I got hit up by a mod because the pics looked a little too good. Could I have gotten my panties in a bunch since my watch was indeed the one in the pics? I guess. But I would much rather the mods err on the side of caution when those new to an appreciation for timepieces will many times make this their first stop to learn and shop.
I was a moderator on another forum (non-watch related) and eventually an administrator and if the general membership knew what you dealt with on a day to day basis... they'd appreciate it a lot more. I've been missing for a while but as soon as my AMEX replacement comes in tomorrow I'll pledge again.

Yikes, I realized that I had a few adds with low cost watches bundled together.
I ended the sale for those, feel free to delete them.
