Submariner C vs Submariner Anniversary

Hello guys, this not seem to be unique question and I am not asking for fashion opinion. Submariner, IMHO, is THE Rolex that keeps the best value. Does Anniversary has an advantage on value holding in future?

Appear to me, although Anniversary at the time, is less compare with $8200 MSRP SubC.

oct 2006----$4875
oct 2007----$5525
mar 2008-- $6225
oct 2008----$6400

appear on market the Anniversary today is 6K5-7K8 range (dep on year and condition). Which it is slightly under current model line and seems adjust slightly under accordingly too. Some put 9K mark but I don't see anyone go for it.

If I have a chance to get one submariner. Not about color choice (cuz i like both). Which is smarter to place money on? There will always be another black Sub in future. Rolex prob will adjust price again to go 8K5-8K8 for one. Not sure if anniversary has advantage over SubC in future and smart for the money. Consider plan to get one anyway.

Well msrp for SubC LN is $8550 USD and LV is $9050. I think they will stay close to the same price. I'll say the SubC keeps going for about $1k more on avg. The LV is rarer but also has a smaller following than the traditional black sub. It's really tough to say because 4 years ago ADs were trying to give away the LV. I had several offered to me for under $5k out the door. Wish I'd known they would be selling what they sell for now. The LV isn't really an anniversary model. Yes it was released on the 50 yr anniversary of the Sub but Rolex never called it an anniversary Model. That came about on the Internet. Personally I like the upgrades on the SubC over the LN. I like the Hulk if I was getting a LV.

Get what you like. I made the mistake of trading a watch for another thinking that it might be worth more in the long run. False economy if you aren't completely happy every time you look at your wrist.

but I kinda like both equally......Since they are both Maxi.
Other difference are not enough for me to say I like one or the other better.

I thought the Green Aluminum bezel is the Anniversary. Online or official. 2003-2010
116610LV (the HULK) is not the anniversary.

Not sure that I follow our reasoning.. You seem to be comparing the current value of a used 16610LV to the current model 116610LN ceramic..

Trying to guess what the used market will do in the future is simply gambling. It is possible that the LVpc (pre-ceramic) will become a desireable model in the future and command a premium.. Some are trying to sell them at large premiums today but aren't having many takers..

Historically, the used models never sell for what the new model commands except for those up-priced exotics (like reds) and limited number early examples.

You should not buy a watch based on what the future may or may not be - unless you are really into such speculation. You should buy a watch to wear and enjoy, since that should be the point of a fine timepiece..

If planning to get one, I wish to put one that is best for the money as well.
Some of pieces like vintage Milgauss. It wasn't consider exotic as Anniversary at the time and later became sky rocking due to rarity.

Anniversary is consider special. Green bezel, classic case, classic bracelet, classic crown guard and black maxi dial. It wasn't a limited edition but limited time only. Hulk LV doesn't get the anniversary recognition cuz it is a green version of the black ceramic and beginning of the production year isn't on the 50th year.

Comex Sub and Red Sub are consider special in Submariner production. For someone live in right period of time interested getting a submariner. He will face similar choices. Comex sub and a vintage black sub from the same year, price of decision out come is very different today.

Not sure Anniversary will have the same foot step. I don't want to spend the money and 10 or 20 years later look back and think, "I was there, had my chance, I should of picked the Anniversary." I hope there is something special during 100 Anniversary. When the 100 Anniversary comes, i am already 80 year old or 90....

I love my anniversay 16610LV Sub.

I think its a good buy as prices are stable/slightly going up.

Classic sub case and design with maxi dial and green bezel is cool.
