Changing the face of my Rolex

Even though I have an iphone, clock radio, pvr clock, stove clock, microwave clock, computer clock, clock in the car....I still want to see the time on my watch. I would like to hear your comments/thoughts/recommendation on me changing the face of my Rolex to one that I can readily see the time instead of the current face. My watch was purchased brand new about a week ago. Thank you.

The pic doesn't show the watch face properly, here's another pic.

What's wrong with it? I'd have no issue telling time on it.

Not sure why you would change the watch since you just bought it. But, if you really wanted to... a fluted gold bezel and champagne dial would look very nice. Sometimes the blue dial looks good with gold as well. Lastly, perhaps the Roman numerals are overbearing for you? What about a dial with sticks?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all new models of dj's have a polished case (&lugs), where as this one appears to be brushed? at least mine is polished?

Also, from what I know changing the face is costly and must be done with rsc. I think if you use an after market face it will become an issue when it is time to resell/trade or I think even having it serviced. Since its only a week old, maybe swap it while you can?

Also, I think the roman nums are the best for telling time. IMHO.

If you change out the face the warranty will be voided. It is handsome just the way it is put together!

I hear you, thank you. I believe I will keep it with the original dial. The case is polished.

Thank you. Here is a comparison between my wife's watch and mine. The dial/reflection on the crystal and the colour makes it tough at times telling the time at a glance. (Maybe I should take my TIME to read the time

Well, you got me confused.. that appears to be a much older watch than brand new, with a bracelet that they don't put on any new watch today..

In any event, I'm not a fan of the champagne dials.. I find them very hard to see in the sunlight which we have a lot of here in the Desert..

Any Dealer sould be able to order and change (or send to have changed) a DJ dial as there are a number of options for every model..

You are right it was an old stock...I guess they had a hard time selling it. 16220 (Y239519)

About a week ago huh? ie. 7 days or so, but you aren't sure..

Where from?

If an AD they'll offer to to change it for you. No worries..

If a pal whos dad left it to him after his watch shop collapsed...

Good luck.

The dealer told me it was old stock. I examined it, never been used, still had the two tiny plastic around the lug. I presume it is about a year old just sitting in the show case. I bought it from a well known store in Toronto.

I don't know if I am allowed to post the address of the shop on this forum. I hope I am not breaking the rules. I bought several watches from this company. He even exchanged my watches, and will change the face at no extra charge. I got it from :http://www.watchfinder.ca/inc/sdetail/81/7724

Ok. Free dial change. Go for it.

Black dial with gold stick markers would be my choice for legibility.

My warranty starts from the date of purchase. I did purchased a used Rolex before but was never happy knowing that it was used. I wanted a brand new Rolex DJ at an affordable price and I thought this was ideal. I am hoping that it was a good deal.

OP appears to have a 16234 not a 116234.

It seems that the top is brushed and the sides are polished.

In that picture its hard to tell, but in all of the others the lugs seem to be brushed? Not a big deal, i think it just means its a bit older.

Why did you buy it if you don't like the dial? I only buy watches I like, even if I came across a watch at a bargain price but didn't like it. It's only a bargain if you like it!

And hey, at the end of the day its a GREAT watch, and you really cant go wrong, different face, polished lugs, none of it really matters! what matters is that you enjoy it!

Oh, and if you want to just keep it and enjoy it, why not by a face on ebay, bring it to a watch maker you trust, and than have it done. its not unheard of.

Well, there were only a couple of unused new older watches available and I do like the DJ for my daily wear. I was promised by the owner to have the dial changed at no charge anytime. After wearing it for a few days I am more inclined to have it changed.
