importing watch to uk
I've tried to search google but couldn't get a definitive answer so was just wondering if anyone has any experience of receiving a rolex from the usa to the uk and if there were any taxes due.

I've bought a couple of Rolex's in the US but I've warn them coming back home. I've never got one via the post. Imagine you would have to pay import duty if you declare it which probably 20% or so.
What are you looking to get? |

Normally in the EU it's VAT+ a small customs fee. So it can add up to quite a high amount.

Again, I couldn't find a DEFINiTIVE answer, but it looks to be about 20% plus discretionary 'handling' fee.

Yeah it's usually VAT plus about 10 %. Otherwise known as not worth it
Cheers

Certainly not worth getting a Rolex from USA and paying 20% VAT plus custom charges

I just had a look at the prices in the US versus Finland, and they're almost exactly the same. At the time of the dollar - euro: 1.50 - 1.00 there was some good deals to be made, but not really anymore.
Used market is different though, as there seems to be a bigger concentration of used in the US.

If it's declared value including postage is at a level where the tax is worth collecting (currently deemed to be £9) then tax will be collected.
Tax is levied at 20% so anything with a declared value over £45 Including postage will have tax levied on it plus handling charges..... Often at least another £10 or more. Your package will be held in a central customs unit and you will be posted a card explaining how to pay the tax. You can do this online and your package will then be released to you. |
