SS Daytona: White or Black
If you could choose, which one would you get? Next week, I might have a chance to choose between them (both on black leather straps, both new), and if I do, I can get only one. Help, please.

The stainless Daytona doesn't come "new" on a black leather strap. White gold ones do, though.
Are you quite certain that the watches you've seen are stainless steel? |

With a black leather-strap, I think white would be wonderful! But black is also beautiful :) Tough choice!!! Still you are a lucky SOB!!! I think really hard about buying a white-faced TT Daytona... (maybe I should buy a car instead...) :))) BUT I LOVE ROLEX!!!!!!!

Welcome to TRF!
I for my part definately prefer the WHITE Cos, if we are talking STEEL Daytonas! But the ones you saw cannot be steel Daytonas, since they don't come on a leather strap. And here are some more dials: Rolex Dials 2006, complete! CLICK!

First, I didn't get chance to buy any. Here is the story...
One of my local AD's had an 'event' last weekend; representatives from Rolex, Breitling, Raymond Weil, JLC and Cartier were talking about new watches, giving away freebies (got myself Breitling t-shirt) etc. Everyone who showed up entered the raffle to buy one of the two watches: White or Black SS Daytona, on leather straps, for approx $7,100 each. They had only two watches, for that event, locked behind the glass. They also said you can't buy or order these, except...then and there, as Rolex is suppling AD's for special events only. Well, if it was a sales pitch...they got me. They had other 'interesting' stuff as well, like new Cartier line, Raymond Weil's that won't show up until next year, $60K 'leopard-gold-and-diamonds" Rolex etc. Anyway, I didn't get lucky, so I guess someone else is wearing them. Anyone else happened to be there? I don't want to mention AD's name, but the event was last weekend (Nov 9-10) in downtown Bellevue, WA. |

Still sounds a bit suss.
If you wanted to buy a SS bracelet for an SS Daytona it would cost you US$1925.00.

I didnt think SS came on strap? I have had silver and black dialed daytonas and I prefer the black, it is so stealth.

It depends if you have another watch with either a black or white dial.
I have a GMT with black dial, so I would choose the white Daytona... Both are exquisite though.

I got lucky. I got a black one. I have a black TT Daytona also. I will not ever part with either one, as the TT was a special birthday watch and the 116520 is the Grail watch. I may decide to collect some other watches now. No other Rolex seems to interest me. I am starting to think about Glashutte, Tag, and Panerai.

Most of my Rollies are with dark colored dials. I like the white because it's a little different in my collection.
