New Watchmakers: A Miracle On Which Much Depends
New Watchmakers: A Miracle On Which Much Depends
by Joe Thompson WatchTime Magazine December 2007 pp. 72 - 78. Introduction "In August, the Lititz Watch Technicum held its fifth graduation ceremony. The Technicum, located in Lititz, PA, USA, is a two-year WOSTEP partnership school teaching micromechanics and watch service; it is underwritten by Rolex Watch USA. At the commencement ceremony, 12 students became certified watchmakers, receiving LWT diplomas and WOSTEP certificates. The commencement speaker at the graduation was WatchTime editor-in-chief Joe Thompson. What follows is the text of his speech, which reviews the remarkable comeback of the mechanical watch over the past two decades, but warns that the mechanical renaissance is a drama in three acts, and we are only in Act II..." The answer to that question can be found for US$7.95 + sales tax in the December 2007 issue of WatchTime magazine available at your local newstand.

Why not?
He could teach all the young and hopeful watch maker apprentices the wonders of changing Daytona dials and teach them micromechanics and watch service

I suggest you post the pics in your Daytona thread instead of sending it via PM. That way you get more opinions on it. Now to get back to topic (sorry for kidding around): Interesting passage with that "Act 3"! Maybe it plays on the plans that some watch manufacturies (INCLUDING Rolex) have had making an "automatic quartz movt" (kinda like the Seiko Kinetic)??
