No longer an owner of AP ROO's

I regret to inform you that I sold both of my ROO's (BB & Rubberclad). I wasn't wearing them as much as my Daytona and I thought I sell my 2 assets and reduce my depreciation since the new line of ROO's are 44 and AP is slowly closing down on 42mm line.

I enjoy my AP's Rubberclad for 4 years and my BB for 2 and I was happy till I started not to wear them. I am now wearing my Daytona SS everday 24/7, god knows which watch I'll be purchasing in the future. I dont mind a PP Nautilus 5980 in a couple of years time.

For now I'll rotate between my PAM 339 and Daytona 116520.

It has been the reverse for me. I gave up all three metal variant of my Daytona to fund my AP as I'm more fond of wearing watches that are 42mm and above. The Daytona is a classic in it's own right but began to be too small for my liking. Plus I didn't find that it was as striking as my APs.

Watches that no longer get worn, and are likely to not get regular use again, flip. No point in having all that money tied up in watches that don't get used hardly anymore.

Yep, rather than spending from the capital to fund my next vacation the money is coming from the sale of my 2 AP's.

Good deal! The Patek 5980 is a beautiful reference! Loved seeing pics of your Bumblebee when you posted, however, it appears you have found your happy spot with your 116520 for your chronograph needs! Kudos!

I am in no need or want right now, I am happy with the Daytona. I was a huge watch fanatic but that interest is starting to fade. I am more of a Photography & Travel fanatic.

2 years and I wasn't babying it so you could say I've got to the point that I've used it well. It was nice but I've grown old of the extravagant colour.

I no longer like ROO's got bored of the look, if I was going to get an AP next it would be a simple 15300 white dial.

I used to like DSLR's but they are too heavy my primary artillery is a Sony RX100, Manfrotto Tripod. Best of both worlds, DSLR quality in a size of a wallet.

I hear you. Lugging around a DSLR can be a pain, but the pics (assuming you have the glass) are just amazing. The new Sony NEX cameras are pretty sweet, too. Promising...

I hear you brother! Nothing wrong with that! I love the travel and photography switch! Two of my vices as well! Keep us posted if you set up a blog or something with your pictures!

Mostly automotive, landscape and my watches.

It's like a spur of the moment thing, in my pickup there is a suction mount for the car and a tripod 24/7.

Makes sense Mohammed. The beauty of this hobby is you can go in many directions and often come back to where you started from. During the process there is significant enjoyment of wearing some of the nicest watches made.

My interests go in cycles too, and oddly enough my most recent watch purchase is a SS Daytona. I like photography too, but am a Leica man. Other interests that come and go are guitars and motorcycles, handmade knives, flashlights of all things, and other things that aren't supposed to be mentioned here (not illegal, just the rules here). It is funny, I rarely get obsessed about more than one thing at a time and am just tapering off of 18 months of watch obsession that was costly but fun, and I am happy with the collection I now have.

I also have a PP somewhere on the horizon.

Enjoy your vacation!

They aren't really going to phase out the 42mm ROOs are they?

I just got mine!

What I would like to add in a years time or so is a Breguet Marine SS with rubber strap.

I'm also looking for a more formal watch and the 15300 and 15400 are up my alley. Sometimes simple is better.

15400 is too big, prefer 15300.

Eventually. They phased out the 39mm RO and most likely they will do that with the ROO's.

That will never happen.. Ap will always continue to make the 41mm Roo watches and they will also offer the 44mm Roo.. Saying AP will stop production on the 41mm size is like saying Rolex will only make the daydateII and no longer offer the daydate.. Some people will always prefer bigger watches and some will prefer smaller.. As it is, 41mm is a pretty substantial sized watch for many so I really could never see ap canceling their 41mm line.. They just gave the 41roo RC dial refresh and I highly doubt they would have done that if they were getting rid of them.. The 44mm is just a different line they are adding to the Roo family..

Good choice. I'm all for moving watches that gets no wrist time and let's face it, trends come and go, tastes and fashion may shift, but yo can never go wrong with a ss Daytona IMO.
