New to the forum; Rolex NYC?
Hello all, I am new to this forum and was hoping someone would help me out. I am looking to purchase a Rolex for the first time and was wondering if anyone knew some legit dealers in NYC? I heard 47th street has some stores, but I don't know if they trustworthy. If anyone can suggest anything it would be much appreciated. Thank you!

47th street is not trustworthy & I would avoid that area unless you know what you're doing. There are great stores in NYC to just view & try on Rolexes, but I encourage looking here on TRF for a purchase. You'll get a much better deal here from a reputable seller.

It depends what model you are going to get. If it's one that's not in too much demand, go to 47th st. If it's a Sub C ND, SS Daytona, go to an AD and get the full experience:-) ADs normally don't discount, but grey dealers do. But this point is moot if the watch is in demand. I got my SubC at full msrp at Tourneau; the grey dealers here would have given only $500 off. Tourneau gave me 12 months no interest plus a $900 gift certificate. Normally, I would not have bought from them.

I would highly recommend staying away from 47th St and go to one of the trusted sellers here on TRF. DavidSW, OCrolexguy, Perpetualman88 and Bodybump are all terrific and I have had great success with them. You will get a brand new or reliable, gently used Rolex from them and they all stand behind what they sell.
Best of luck! |

You're probably not going to fare well on 47th Street, you have to really know your stuff to shop there. I also suggest you buy from a trusted TRF member or maybe even spend a little more and buy from an AD since you say you're new to this.

I will only tell you this...
There are Jewelers in manhattan who provide effectively "private" service to customers they are introduced to by existing customers. These jewelers have 30+ year relationships with ADs and can get Rolex watches discounted from 10%-30% off depending on the popularity of the model. Furthermore they will ship the watch to NJ so you do not have to pay Sales Tax. This is the ideal way to go in my opinion. You need to hook up with a reputable jeweler. I am NOT counting 47th street in this equation. |

Shop around in NYC, try on as many as you can, choose one model that you love, then
buy it from one of our trusty dealers, can't go wrong with that!!

Welcome to TRF. Spend your money here. You will get a great watch at a fair price. Plenty of trustworthy sellers here. I've bought 4 watches here without any regrets.

If what you mean as "legit" as in an Authorized Dealer, then there are only 3 in NYC I believe. Check Rolex site for all of them. I don't know about any other options or grey dealers like what you are describing on 47th St. Although I have bought many great looking diamond pieces from jewelers on that street, Rolexes may be another story. Good luck.

If you're looking for new stuff try the Rolex Boutique or Wempe. I heard William Barthman is also good. If you're looking for older stuff I can give you a few places, but it's definitely a little trickier with vintage.

You can find AD in NY from rolex.com - retailer locator.
Or you can choose one from the sale section from here. My next purchase will be definetly from a good seller from this great forum. |

I have purchased 3 watches from the great sellers here, all were good deals and the watches were in fantastic condition.
Unless you really need the AD experience I would try to deal here. |

You will be hard pressed to find a better deal outside of the trusted sellers on the forum. There isn't anything wrong with 47th st but it can be intimidating for some.
If you want a BNIB with the AD experience, go to William Bartham. If you want to try on a bunch of Rolexes to figure out which model, try the Wempe Rolex Boutique or Tourneau because their inventory is better than William Bartham. |
