Sea Dweller 16660 vs SubC 116610LN
I have saved up, and it`s time to get a Rolex,This is going to be a B-gift to myself ( 30 years )
It`s between the Rolex Sea Dweller 16660 or the Rolex Submariner 116610LN. I have DSSD, but it`s not in use. To big for EDC Pro? Cons? The Dweller is going to be pre-owned and the SubC is going to be brand new. Anybody have both? Comparison pic? Regards MaxCargo

Im biased, but I must say that both are really fantastic. I chose the Sub-C as that is what is on my wrist. You have the DSSD so you already know what the clasp/bracelet and ceramic bezel are all about. Its a no brainer (in my eyes)
The only question should be if you want date or no date SubC |

I've owned both, and between these two it's a very tough call. Although, I give the SLIGHT edge to new SubC due to ceramics and Glidelock clasp.

I always prefer the vintage divers ...
... as I love the history of Rolex and diving. Also you really can't go wrong with ANY vintage SD in my book. Cheers -Ron

I have a Sea Dweller now but have been looking for a SubC lately. I think it would be great to have both. Really like the ceramic bezel better for everyday use.

Would you like it to be more toolish looking or a little more blingy? The ceramic on the Sub C makes it shine and look a little more like jewelry than the SD. This fits my lifestyle better, as I wear suits everyday, so I went with the Sub C, even though I am not crazy about the cyclops.
Another thing to consider is that the clasp on the Sub C is something else. I actually find myself using it almost everyday, as I like my watches snug but my wrist swells if its a hot day. Either one looks great, this is a nice dilemma to have. Congrats either way. |

They look very similar, but the sub has the superior clasp.

sub gets my vote, i love the concept of seadweller but it's too thick in my opinion, i also love the dial of a seadweller more. the extra little ring inside that says gas lock looks great but the case bothers me,

You already have a DSSD. Getting a SD or a sub-c would be too close to what you already have. If I were you, I would get a sub-c LV. Its still a sub-c but you now have variety and there is notable difference when you wear them. If you buy the SD or LN, its like having the same watch on all the time.
Just my opinion. |

I vote SD, but I'm biased...I own one. Few things I'm not crazy about, but I love this watch something awful. Clasp is cheap feeling but it works and looks more toolish/attractive to me than the newer ones. The newer ones are leaps ahead though, in use and comfort. The lume on the SD is horrible. The maxi dial on the subC offers great lume, if that matters to you. For me it's annoying, my PO looks like it has mini light bulbs next to it when I walk in a dim room from outside. I love the very subtle heft it has. I love that it isn't recognized as quickly....in a AD in Argentina while trying on a Deep Sea the sales girl(younger looking lady) picked up my SD and looked at it oddly, I could tell she thought it might even be fake. I told her what the watch was and the manager walked over as he over heard, he complimented me on it and corroborated why it lacks some basic Rolex features, i.e.. cyclops and rehaut. The subC is just another sub/rolex, no story to the "layman". But really...really, since you have a DSSD, it would probably be best to switch it up and get the subC, I think you'll love it too. If you don't have a particular attraction to one over the other, then go subC, the ceramic bezel is puurty. Good lucks bro. |

Is the 16660 matte or gloss?
For the price of a ceramic sub you could get a matte 16660 which would be the obvious choice Imo. I have a gloss 16660 and I love it. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 |
