Keith Emerson's 18K YG 1680 on the bay!!!

Awesome pieces on the bay today. Nice set with the receipt from the rock legend Keith Emerson from Emerson Lake and Palmer.

Quite overpriced but in nice looking condition.

Its not bad but I have a 1973 18k 1680 full set in much better condition (safe since 1975) id sell for that price myself.

That is very cool. I grew up on that group. Lucky Man, Tarkus, and From The Beginning. Great tunes. Nice watch also.....

It can't be from 1969 as it should be meters first. Anyway it's a gorgeous watch! Y rather like the GMT 1675 of Michael Rutherford, from Genesis!

Rather confusing.

2.8 something should be 71, and bracelet is 70...and claims 69..

Greekbum, did you notice there are no end link numbers or band model number on the last link? The auction reads:

1969 with original "Patent Pending" Bracelet

Sorry to chime in, but the PP which were advertised on VRF didn't had a reference either.
The later ones however should have the 9290 reference.

with a case number in the 2.81 mill. range... the "feet first" dial is correct and consistent to the time of production ( 1971 and NOT 1969 )

it's perfectly "normal" to have a bracelet 1 year older than the case ....
on the contrary the "reverse" option is not very pleasant .. LLOOLLLL

btw it's not unusual to see a PP bracelet in a watch from 1971 ...
here is an example for a steel model ( a Comex 5513 from the 1st batch with case number in the 2.83 range produced at the end of 1971 ) :

see how close the lug holes are to the bevels... worn too tightly and you might break the case!!

Marcello can you explain what you said as I am lost? Open 6's feet 1st is the correct dial for a 2.96xxxx 1680 18k.

simply that this is not the first gold 1680 in the 2.8-2.9 range seen with a "meters-first" dial
the same thing ( overlap ) can be seen in "transitional" times for many rolex models.. such as 1665-1675-1665 and so on.

( edit 2 times for typo )

sorry I have done sone confusion : I was meaning that in this range for gold 1680 you can find either the last dials "meters first" as well the "standard dial" feet-first.

Yes, but a decent jeweller can build that up a bit to reinforce it, with gold. Easier than SS
