Rolex During Hurricane Sandy - Video :)
Here's a shameless Rolex shot in a video of Hurricane Sandy taken aboard the deck of Moshulu, a four masted sailing ship docked in Philadelphia. Call it my way of responding to the "can I get it wet" threads
Enjoy http://youtu.be/QnZfagnpjTM |

Here's a still shot taken from the deck of Moshulu during Hurricane Sandy, while holding onto the shroud of the main-mast during 70+mph gusts. Anyone else have any "live action" Hurricane Sandy wrist shots? I'd love to see 'em

Wow! I guess that was the battleship New Jersey in the background.
I haven't seen that ship since maybe early February 1969 from the deck of the USS Ogden (LPD-5), where our unit was preparing for an amphibious assault on the Batangan Peninsula in South Viet Nam. When I heard over the intercom that the New Jersey was three miles off our port side, I beat feet to the main deck to take a look. I was astounded at how big that ship looked three miles away. The support that the New Jersey provided us was something one can never forget.

The road by the river was completely flooded and closed both northbound and southbound. If the river rose another 10 inches we may have broken free from the pins that hold us to the landing. Fortunately there was no severe damage.

Small world :) I grew up in Wayne, right around the corner. We were very fortunate and are wishing the best for everyone who was devastated by the storm. One of our other restaurants on LBI didn't fare as well, but nobody is able to access the island to determine the extent of the damage. |

You should see my DSSD!
6.25" wrist here, the Sub-C is about as must wrist presence as I'd want. Any larger and the lugs would surely hang over the edge of my wrist. It's strange how you become accustomed to larger watches. My first "nice" watch was a 35mm Movado Portico a number of years back. At the time, it was perfect. I eventually became interested in automatics and purchased a 36.6mm Omega Aqua Terra 2504.50 which seemed massive in comparison due to it's thickness. I soon bought a 39mm Breitling which made my 36mm AT feel tiny, so I traded up to a 38.5mm with an 8500 movement. Then I became drawn to the classic look of Rolex sport watches . Ended up flipping two 16610s, a 16613LN and a 116610LN before settling on my current 116610LN as my "perfect watch." Just last week I tried on a 36mm Day-Date and it felt tiny on my wrist, although by any objective measure it surely wasn't. One of these days when I'll have to get used to the size, because I really doubt I can pull of a 41mm Day-Date |
