Christmas Is Right Around the Corner..
Since Christmas is right around the corner, I'm starting on my hunt to find my girlfriend a watch. Here are the two watches (obviously I'm going to get a lot of folks pushing for Rolex, but lets try to make this fair):
-Cartier Tank; She loves this watch and is dazzled by the brand. I've never owned a Cartier watch before, nor do I know of the actual quality of the watch making. To me, they don't seem worth the money. -Rolex Women's DateJust (Diamond bezel and markers); This would be my choice of the two. Most likely the better quality of the two as well, IMO. She loves this watch as well. This seems like a no brain-er, but I'm really not sure what to do. I guess I'm here on the Rolex forums to get reassurance that I'm making the right choice getting her the DJ. -C. |

In my family it was always Cartier for the girls, Rolex for the boys! So I guess i'm somewhat used to that ... I think Cartier are more elegant designs for women which suits them better (generally).

Agreed. My friend had this choice for her graduation. She went with the Cartier, and it looked a bit underwhelming to me. But def get her the one she prefers. Carter's are good watches.

f*** that, give her a Rolex! Sometimes people do not know their own best interest. If the Rolex Women's DateJust (Diamond bezel and markers) is not the watch she wants the most, then I believe this is a case were you got to do what is best for her. In the long run she will thank you!
But seriously, I would choose the Rolex

The Cartier Tank is an absolute classic and is both fashionable stylish and a great watch. My favourite is the mid-size Tank Francaise model and with the automatic movement as some of the smaller sized tanks only came with a Quarz movement.
But I have also recently bought a TT Lady Date Just for my wife and it's a similarly classic piece and has the option of a dial change for minimal cost whenever she gets bored........... But in the end, as others have said, it just comes down to what SHE prefers .... unless you're thinking about resale value (which Rolex wins hands down). |

Those two watches have distinctly different looks.
I would get my wife the watch she wants to wear, not the one I want her to wear..

I always wanted to get my wife a TT DJ for our twenty year wedding anniversary. She prefered a mens size "French Tank" and has been happy with it for the last thirteen years.

It's a narrow A-B choice. Tank or Round.
Outside of technical data, the Tanks look nice, but a Round Rolex is better IMHO.

You say she loves both but it seems like she prefers the Cartier more. Make her really happy by getting her what she wants more.

nothing festive about them - if it was Easter, it would be the Easter Bunny collection - same watches. I'd get her what she wants.

does she not like hublots?
I got my gf a hublot big bang with white rubberband strap on Diamond bezels, and she loves it. says it's easy to wear with any outfit flashy yet casual. Hublots have a femine design so girls do like them. I can post pics of my hublots if it helps she likes it more than the rose gold chocolate dial President II i just got her |

Best thing to do is give her the options... buy both and let her wear the one she likes then flip the other towards a watch you want!

Wow...what an awesome gift for a "girlfriend!" I understand if it was for the wifey, but wow! I like the roman numerals dials on the ladies for some reason; I vouch for a cartier tank for your girlfriend.
