So if the seller on e-bay is the same as watchestobuy then it would seem like the seller is pretty solid.
It is a great package and you know it is a vintage watch. It does seem to have had a recent service which is good, and the Air-King Date is in my opinion a more collectable Air King than without the date.
I like the black dial and the fact that it is with box & especially original papers is very good too.
One thing to remember is the size of this watch case will be 34mm, so I just hope you physically know that size. As an indication the case size of the GMT, Submariner, EXII is all 40mm.
So I don't really know what attracts you to this watch, if it is the package and its vintage status, I would say go ahead. What exactly do you want to discuss about this watch?

P.S. Welcome

Thanks for the welcome.

I should have been more explicit in my critique. watchestobuy lists the item as on hold and at $3k plus.

I am dubious about the Ebay auction. It seems to be a trend nowadays for dishonest ebayers to take photos from a legitmate site and sell, well, nothing... they take the money and run.

Was just wondering whether that was the case with this auction?

Lovely watch, though.

Best,

O.K. well if you are saying that the seller is not watchestobuy then I would raise my eyebrows.
10 Feedbacks from the seller is not enough, who knows what the seller bought or sold, and of the 10 feedbacks one can't see them, and he/she couldn't even get 100% feedback for 10 sales. I would only do the deal if the price is right and I could actually pay the seller COD face to face. Otherwise I'd walk away, and find something more solid.
Remember "Buy the seller" before you "Buy the watch".

Honestly, I don't know if watchestobuy and this seller are the same ... I am trying to find out. Just seems a slightly less than transparent auction at the mo, so buyer beware at this point I guess. Cheers

Looking more closely at the e-bay sellers history. He has been a member since 2003 with a total of 12 transactions. All the transactions except 1 have been conducted in the last month or so.
The seller has never sold anything before on e-bay and all his purchases in the last month or so have been of a trivial nature. I don't know but it has some hallmarks of being trouble.

He copied everything from that site!

He took the pictures and the description right from the web site. He has only 10 feedbacks in the last 4 years...way too risky for 3 grand...Pay Pal or not

I'd stay away from that guy. Not only is his feedback low, he has a negative one. He sounds shady. Probably a good thing the auction ended with no bidders. He may relist it, though.

Welcome to TRF!

As Steve very rightly states:

"Buy the seller, before you buy the watch".

IMHO, this seller is NO good.

So I would like hell.
