Is it possible that Rolex Green Sub "Y" series must have Flat "4"?

I've been a member for years but rarely post

one of my friends just bought Green Submariner "Y" series
but there are some odds about the watch so I need comments from you guys.

the watch is "Y" series with mark i
and the case was engraved Y7xxxxxx & 16610T should be green sub for sure
but the heck is the watch's bezel ( color , pointed 4, closed 5) which seems to be matched with green sub later than F series ?

my question is if possible this watch was switched with wrong bezel?

Its only an insert, they get switched/replaced all the time so don't have too much concern.

Nothing is written in stone with Rolex and the so called flat four font was used on SD, Sub,and GMT around this time frame.So has the so called flat four font been used on many Rolex watches over the past 4 decades.And like many very slight font changes over the past 50 years nothing special.But just noticed today more with todays WIS with high power loupe.Its a Just a insert and the main point of the aluminum insert is that it can be changed quite easily. And Rolex don't make inserts for any particular serial they use whatever they have in stock. So its quite possible for say a Y serial to have any green insert Rolex has on the production line at the time of production.

As mentioned, it's just an insert.. There is no real "proper" insert that makes the watch incorrect if not fitted..

The flat four is accepted as an original fitment in the first releases of the LV, but nobody knows when the next set of insert fonts came in..

Also, if the watch has been serviced, a proper insert replacement would be the latest issue, not the earliest issue; so either is correct.

If the flat four look is desired, it is a direct replacement if you can find one..

Your friend actually purchased a random serial 16610LV. Based on the serial # you provided it does in fact start with Y but is followed by seven additional characters. This would make it a random serial and not a Y serial green sub from 2003. Prior to the current random serial, Rolex serial #'s started with a letter and were followed by six numbers. If this were a true Y serial from 2003 or so the serial #would start with a Y and be followed by six digits only.

Just noticed the rehaut is not engraved. Now thinking the OP meant to say the serial # started with a Y and was followed by six digits, not seven. In this case it would be an early LV with most likely a later date green insert installed, which most likely replaced the original green insert.

This Y certainly breaks the norm by not having a flat 4 insert but with Rolex, it all differs
