AP ROO Diver Accuracy

I just purchased a new AP diver last week. After setting it with my iPhone, ive noticed it it picking up about 8-10 seconds a day. Is this normal? What is your experience?

I wouldn't say it's normal but mine runs fast as well. Definitely +10-20 a day. I like it so much that I don't want to send it in for adjustment still under warranty. I would miss it way too much.

I feel the same way, love the watch- it took the place of my DSSD and sooo much more comfortable. Im close to the Clearwater facility but dont wat to be without it!

Mine runs about +3 seconds a day.

Have you sent it in for the 3rd year warranty? might not be a bad idea to have them regulate it then pressure test it to get the extended warranty.

The AP Calibre 3120 is beats at a slower rate (21K) instead of the 28K which is typical. A slow beat movement is harder to regulate at impressive accuracy but theoretically requires less service. The inaccuracy of the AP ROO Diver has been discussed a lot online in various forums.

I'd say keep it a few weeks more at least and see how it settles in. If 10 secs/day bother you, then have Clearwater take care of it. AP service is top shelf.

There is lot to like with the AP ROO Diver but I'm not sure I'd give up a DSSD for it. They complement each other! :-)

I'm not sure your iPhone is the best thing to measure against.

If you worry check it against an online atomic clock. But to be honest I wouldn't worry with +8.

My new one is running about 8 seconds fast a day - so I would say it's pretty normal.

That is plenty accurate enough for me :)

My Diver used to run +12sec/day.

Like Patrick said, Let it settle for a couple of weeks and see the result and if not better send it in for a regulation.

Thank you all for the input. I read in one post about setting it on the side, crown up for 12 hours. I did that last night and it seems to have reduced significantly, around +6 which is great.
Love the watch and I agree that the AP Diver compliments the DSSD but if I needed to just have one, this AP Diver would be the pick. SO much more comfortable etc. Just love the watch.
Now it looks like Im going to need to wait 3+ months to get the bracelet according to Clearwater - major backorder. Oh well, part of the journey.

Mine runs +6sec/day. Sometimes it runs more like +10/day. I think that's what we get from 3120 calibre. Rolex is much more accurate but Diver is a beauty

Actually the 3120 is one of the finest and most accurate automatic movements ever made over any Rolex. The 3120 on my 15300 is spot on just at +-3 sec/day. Which is well under COSC specs.

If it is so accurate why does everyone else who owns one on this thread report it runs 6-12 seconds fast a day?

It doesn't bother me personally...but I would have expected it to be a little more accurate tbh.

Hal's right about the 3120. The 3120 is the basis for the 3126 movement now used in all new ROOs. I haven't heard many issues about accuracy from the ROO owners. I doubt AP would have selected a less than reliable movement as the basis for their new models going forward. My 15300 and BB are two of the most reliable time pieces in my collection. Besides if you read all the "my Rolex is running too fast/slow" threads, you'd think the venerable 3135/3136 movements were crap (which they're not). I could show you a 17j 70 yr old pocket watch movement that puts modern time keeping to shame. The reality is all movements (if properly serviced) are only as accurate as their regulation.

Some Divers for whatever reason have an issue. I'm not a 'horological master' or watchmaker so I don't have an answer for you.

All I know is that the 3120 is typically extremely accurate. Perhaps a bad batch on the ones fitted on some Divers???

Maybe Divers are intentionally regulated fast out of the factory? I've noticed that AP seems to prefer to regulate for faster timing than most other companies. It doesn't sound like a huge issue either way as watches will slow down over time. I'd rather a fast watch than a slow one.

Got the diver back from Clearwater. Very nice with the brown "travel" box and catalogue. Anyway, most importantly was the Diver as well. They explained the spring was to stiff. At least thats what i undertood, she had a specific term i cant remember. Seems like its better, running at about + 6 sec a day so im good. Would not want to give it up again anyway!
Oh and Merry Christmas everyone, happy the Mayans were wrong!

it was there little over 3 weeks. I was really surprised to have it back before the holiday. My only complaint is that the "check in" process, including ordering anything, is like dealing with top secret government documents. Seemed like a little overkill and I can see the Swiss influence on the process; cumbersome yet precise.
