Day Date- Am I Crazy?
Does anyone else wish they would make a Day Date II in the same proportions as a Day Date (ie the bezel)?
I love the Day Date but I feel like it is too small. I like the size of the Day Date II but I feel like the bezel is too big. Am I crazy? |

The 36mm DD is perfect. My favorite iteration is the Stella dial variants

The DD-II sort of fits the new trend of bigger. The case and bezel don't bother me - but the indexes seem overly fat on some dials.

Ditto as well. I tried both on recently and felt DD was too small on wrist and DD II was too big. I plan to wait a few weeks and try it again.

IMO the DDII fluted bezel is too wide. But the platinum bezel works perfectly with the lines of the DDII.

I agree,
I like my DayDate but always thought that the DayDate II dial was too small in proportion to the bezel width. The DayDate II however is one huge slab of gold Rolex.

I always feel the fluted bezel on DD2 or DJ2 look odd (out of proportion)
but the smooth bezel looks just nice |

I'm relatively new to the Rolex world, and when I entered this world the DDII and DJII were already out so I had no preconceived notions of what "proper" proportions of a Rolex were. I own a DJII and when I see a DJ or DD I think the bezel looks too skinny.
I think it really comes down to what you're used to seeing: people tend to overvalue what they're familiar with. In addition, I'm also relatively large at 6'6" 245lbs so I tend to prefer watches that are slightly larger, specifically in the 39-41mm range. The size of the 36mm looks extremely old fashioned on my wrist, and I'm 28 years old and prefer a more modern look. My next Rolex acquision will likely be the SubC. Again, I prefer the larger size of the maxi-case over the smaller case of the 16610.

I agree with the indicies being too fat on the stick dials. I would prefer if they would add a more vintage looking silver stick dial, with thinner indicies and and nothing else

The 39mm is pure perfection.
