Aloha all:

OK TRF, here it goes. Steer me right or steer me to the right thread if it's been asked?.....

I am contemplating buying The Last One sometime this spring, which would be a (pre-owned) Rolex GMT II, the non-ceramic model. I want the saphire crystal, but here is the q:

Can a GMT II that left the factory with the Oyster bracelet be fitted with the Jubilee bracelet? Are the bracelets interchangeable?

(reason I ask is I have kind of small wrists, and the Oyster bracelets look a little silly on me. Being that the case is already 40mm, the Jubilee just fits my wrist better and also adds, imo, a little more elegance to an otherwise very sporty watch).

You can get a jubilee bracelet for your GMT, but you'll likely have to buy the right size Rolex jubilee bracelet yourself and the right end-links depending on if you have lugholes or not. There are alot of old threads if you search the forums that should help you. Rolex won't do a swap for you unless your GMT came with a jubilee and not oyster bracelet.

Yep, and he will tell you the Bracelet you need is a 63200. It comes with endlinks built in, and it will fit the 16710 perfectly.

I wear my 16710 interchangeably on the original oyster and an old school jubilee. My jubilee is a 62510H marked 50 (these will fit the standard 2.0mm springbars for the 16710) on 502T endlinks because my 16710 is an M-serial with no lugholes. As for the super jubilee with solid center links and end pieces, 63200, it uses a hidden clasp and you will need 1.8mm springbars (for the Datejust) to fit.

when did they make the glold/ss two tone?

that one is the one that knocks my socks off

They have made a Two Tone GMT since the 80's. They frequently came from the factory on a Jubilee

For decades the GMT could be ordered with an Oyster, Jubilee, or Sub style Oyster..

another question:

does the 2nd timezone hand run all the time, or can it be stopped like the extra hand on a chronograph, e.g. to only sweep when set?

The 24 hour hand is always running afaik.

Yes the GMT hand rotates once every 24hrs and the hour hand twice in 24hrs

I'm not that familiar with the Daytona but if that was my reference I suppose then it would be a bit odd at first to have the GMT hand running all the time.

But for a GMT, no biggie. The Exp II is the same way. Any GMT watch that I'm aware of actually. I guess watch companies haven't gotten a lot of requests for a watch where the GMT hand can be "turned off".

The GMT hand isn't nearly as annoying as the cyclops. I hear it's good for old eyes, though.

The GMT hand hides itself well on the old TT version but stands out more on the SS, since they painted the stalk red.
