V serial Sea Dwellers

Tools mentioned this database on another thread - V serial Sea Dwellers that members have reported.

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=77161

It's interesting to me that most of those reported (approximately 50) were bought in the UK or Europe with a few in other locations.

I came across a few new Sea Dwellers at US ADs when the new ones were drying up (late 2009) and they were all M or Z.

Obviously there's no way of knowing how representative the locations recorded here are of the total numbers sold though . . .

Could be hundreds of V serial SDs its just a case stamp much like any other case stamp.Basically the 16600 SD has changed very little since its introduction in 1988/9 apart from the case stamps and a few minor font cosmetic differences.

Little letters between lugs won't really change the SD value to its owner.

I used to have a Sea-Dweller V-series, too:

fortunately to get one of the last ones in Canada myself, and love it! Long story short, had to get Rolex Canada to order one myself, as AD weren't able to.

Yeah, I agree that V serial SDs probably aren't worth more than M or other serials. Still I find it interesting that it seems like a high percentage of the V serials were sold in Europe, judging by the postings on TRF. I think there's something to be said for having one of the last ones made, even it it's not worth any more.

How if you have a V serial SD with the first two numbers in the so called error dial font that will quadruple the SD value.

Rolex have never made a series of any watch its just case serial and except for a different alphabet first letter .Very much like any other Rolex serial over the past 20 odd years ,and every one just one of a kind and everyone unique to that particular watch case.

YOU CLEARLY DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT THIS IS THE NEXT SLEEPER IN 50 YEARS EVERYONE IS GOING TO WANT THE LAST SERIALED SEADWELLER CASE

/s

I wish there was more of a focus on the change that happened when they got rid of lugholes as opposed to the change in moving between letters of the alphabet.
