Opinions needed on this 5512
Hello, got bitten by the Rolex bug recently and purchased a brand new SS GMTIIC a few months ago. It hasn't left my wrist since, absolutely adore it.
Then I found this forum and fell in love with the world of vintage 8-) And although I tried to do lots of reading up on this site as I'm preparing to acquire my first watch, I still feel like a total amateur:-) Therefore, I'd appreciate any feedback on this 5512 I'm currently looking at. What do you all think? Does the case look too thin/polished to you? Do you see anything that you don't like? Also, opinions on the price and/or the seller would be welcome. Thanks! |

OK, over 70 views and no comments To make it easier for you, I attach the photos of the watch directly below.
It's a 3,443,XXX serial, from I/72, asking price 6K. I really like the patina, just a little unsure about the polished case. I'm not looking for a collector's piece, I intend to throw it on a bond strap and wear the hell out of it :-) I'd be grateful for any thoughts on the watch and the price. |

Hello!
I have a 1.8 million series 5512 with meters first and it is a great combo of collectibility and every day-wearability. I like the patina of the one you are interested in and the conversion to trip-lock is handy for a daily wearer. The case looks fine; not too "thin." Not speaking of the workings, but "looks" well maintained in general. Cheers and good luck, Patrick |

By the way, my 5512 is a daily wearer - however, by my S/O. I am told I won't miss it in the watch box (although I still secretly check it for "mistreatment" every day ;-)
