New Rolex Green Sub
Hey all....new to the forums, but have been lurking here for a bit, reading all the good stuff from you guys. I'm at a point where I'd like to join the Rolex club, and I'd really like to get a stainless steel Sub. I just think it's a timeless, iconic, design and a great all-around watch.
So....I know that the black one is more popular, and probably a bit more practical, but for some reason, I really like the green one. Maybe because it's just that *little* bit different, while still being a beautiful watch. I saw one tonight, tried it on, and was amazed (as many of you have commented) about how the dial changes color, based on the viewing angle. At extreme angles, it actually looks black. Really good stuff. I know these things are bulletproof and I've beaten up on my Tag pretty well, and while it keeps going, a few little pieces have begun to break off it....(the buttons for the stopwatch and reset literally just fell off). What can you say? It's just a Tag.... :-) My main concern is pairing with formal wear. I typically wear a suit for work (often dark or charcoal colored), and I'm just not sure if the green one would work for everyday wearing (i.e. if it would "match" or look out of place). Anyone have any experience with it, good or bad? Would appreciate any feedback or comments, based on what you've seen. thanks all! Matt |

it will go well with anything. Just make sure its a true 50th green and not just a green bezel added on

Personally I think that you can wear it in any situation. I don't think it clashes with other colours as some people do. Since I've bought mine I've ignored my other watches. Even wearing it with red at this time of the year is a nice Xmas vibe.

Someone posted a similar question about the green sub a week or so ago and a lot of forum members posted pics of their green subs with different colored suits. I was amazed at how well the green goes with all colors.
Try to find that thread and take a look at the pictures. |

Subs go great with suits. I wore one everyday for 4 years. I don't think the color will make a difference. Welcome to the club!!!!

My personal opinion is that the green sub goes well with whatever you are wearing. I have both the 16610LV and 116610LV and wear both with everything and I think they look good regardless. No worries about the green!

Go green or you'll regret it. |

Contrarian here. I owned the LV. Found it hard to match up with clothes. Bugged me.
That being said get the green. It is unusual and different. |

Welcome. Just joined myself but have read for a while. I loved the 116610lv. Just bought mine a week ago. I also love my 14060m and find the black no date has a striking simplicity. This is the second time I have foregone a SS Daytona to get a different rolex but nothing with the green is causing me regret so far. Go to bed thinking of what I can wear the next day to contrast with the green. I don't wear a suit everyday but do find a tie with a splash of green or a sweater in colder weather always compensates. Blue dress shirts look sharp as well as watch shows off black and green dial.
Don't think you can go wrong with a sub. |

The HULK has summoned! Get it and wear it everyday. I've seen it personally and it looks amazing. I wouldn't hesitate wearing it with anything, or any color. Actually, it commands more attention when the colors are contrast, and that's a good thing. Post pics when you acquire!!!

Welcome to the forum. I have a "Hulk" and wear a dark suit a lot for work. Even though I have other subs, I have been wearing my hulk as a daily wearer for the past few months. It goes well with everything. You will not be unhappy with your choice.

Can't go wrong with either. If you like the green LV-C better, go for it.

Thanks!
You guys rock! Thanks for all the comments. Glad to hear from some current "Hulk" owners that they are happy with it and can wear it with anything. I tend to wear the same watch every day, and I have a Tag Chrono Link which has served me well, but I'd really like to make that my "other" watch an trade up to the Sub. I also like that Subs are VERY durable and can take a bit of a beating, as I (like many of you) tend to smack them around a bit.
I live near NYC and find myself in the diamond/jewelry district often where the guys have these on display. Tried one on last night. It was actually the shop owner's watch that he was selling. Offering a decent price on it, since it had a couple tiny scratches on the bracelet. Other than that, it was mint. Hoping to pull the trigger on one in the next few months. Will post if/when I happens! Matt |

I would not wear that watch with a suit. That's just me.
