A Thread About Nothing
Puffnmo posted on the Watches (non-Rolex) forum about some lack of success with threads he'd started. I thought maybe since misery loves company I would join him and start a boring thread. Maybe no one will post. Maybe Downing will post and he will be the last to post.
(sitting, staring blankly at screen...) Well, yeah, that's about it. Um... Gettin' cold out. Geez, look at the time. Better go brush my teeth. |

Oh, hi, Mireyna! Welcome to this exciting thread. Crest Whitening Expressions. Vanilla Mint. Aw, I probably need to go. I hear a baby fussing... hmm.. silence... Did have a pretty nice day today. Husband took the two big kids to the annual train show at the fairgrounds. Baby and I journeyed to several antique shops and I found an old walnut headboard and footboard for her bed. We're slowwwllly getting things moved in to the house we're renovating. We needed more space with the new addition to the family, and the new house is right next to school. Can't beat that. The bigger place was built in 1939 and is 10 years newer than our current home. It's a clinker brick Tudor Revival and I am going to love living in it. Much more fixing up to do after we get completely moved in, but all a labor of love. Boring enough for everyone? |

I couldn't do it! I prefer my newly build in 2005 home, with nothing to fix! (except that I want all kinds of stuff remodeled already...! )
I'm going to take a bath, and go to sleep... tomorrow is the last day of the week for me, and it can't be over fast enough for me this time! I'm soooo tired! Yawn... OK I'm going.... Night night! Mireyna

Lisa - Thanks a lot for sending me down here for some more boredom.
Well here goes. Something that's been on my mind for a long time is the crack in the floor of the garage. When we bought the house I used it as a way to get a further reduction in the price of the house. Never really did much to fix it except fill it with some concrete. Now I'm wondering - should I really just leave it like that? Still haven't come to a decision, it's been 8 years.... Well, that's about all for now. Going to brush with Rembrant toothpaste. They say it keeps your teeth powerfully white, but I'm not so sure about that... |

Lisa,
I'm at the other end of forum thread modus operandi. Typically I get to threads late, give my 2 cents, and that's the end of THAT thread. Just wait and see. dP

Just as well - Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada in beige tights brings back awful memories.

Actually, nothing can be quite interesting. I've been reading The Nothing That Is: A Natural History of the Number Zero. Being a statistician, the implications of zero have quite an effect, especially when people start mistaking it for nothing.

Dan, Downing says the same thing - he'll post and the thread dies. I have anxiety about that, too - it's funny that we even care, but I do!

Also never forget that the dog that doesn’t bark can be just as important as the one that does. For example, finding that drinking coffee has 0 correlation to infertility is not nothing. Or if I have $0.00 and 0 Credit and 0 things to sell that is defiantly not nothing, that would be a very important something. |

A few things to consider: - neither zero degrees Celsius or Farenheit denote an absolute absence of heat - on a scale of -5 to +5, zero is the middle value - if you asked someone to rate something from zero to a hundred, zero is still an answer It's got quite a few implications when it comes to computing figures. Somewhere between the Sumerians and the Greeks, the number zero actually disappeared, and that played merry hell when people were trying to work out how many sheep they'd sacrificed to the gods the previous year.

HERE is a good read on the difference of nothing and 0 is regards to mathamatics :)
To sum it up if you get lost: 0 is a number and nothing is an empty set or nothing=nothing 0=number |

Yuh huh, and I've lost count of the number of programmers I've seen make a dog's breakfast of things by forgetting this.

Okay, I'm understanding the zero is something concept in mathematical terms. Now, anyone care to discuss whether nothing is really nothing? By acknowledging nothing, doesn't that then make it something?Okay, I promise I'm not really blonde!
