16610LN Lume

Hello -

I just purchased a Sub C, which I adore, but I've noticed that (a) the lume isn't all that strong, and (b) the lume is more green than blue (see image). Are there any Sub C's with green lume, not blue? I'm perplexed, and look to your help. Thanks, all!

All SubCs are aqua (blue) lume.

As a fellow SubC owner, I somewhat agree that the lume isn't stunningly "long-lasting". When it's fully charged, it will glow and look great, but not long after, it is fading. It glows very minimally for 3-4 hours at a barely noticeable level....

I will note though, other than T-100 or T-25 Tubes, this watch does what I would expect for Luminova...

Mine however, is more blue than "green"....but I understand what you mean when it might look slightly green. I think it looks much more green in photographs though..

Mine is more green than blue as well.
At full charge it's blue, but after that, it's usually green.

I too was expecting more of a strong blue lume when I first got my 116610 based on other pics.

I was slightly disappointed at my lume on my new 116610. It's definitely not completely green, however I would describe the lume on mine to be like an aqua blueish green.

I agree with others that the pictures make the lume look a lot more blue. In person, the lume looks slightly greenish to me.

I may stop by a RSC to have it checked out. I read a post that another member did in fact receive a 116610 with green lume and the RSC replaced it with a blue lume.

Thank you, all, especially T. Ferguson! This is very helpful. I think the issue started when I looked at the DSSD lume, which in photos appears even more blue. That had me thinking. I suppose everything is as it should be, though. Thanks, everyone!

Looks fine. They appear more blue in pictures than in real life sometimes .. but that depends on how the pic was taken.

It is the exact same hue as the DSSD, but they may look different in certain pictures.

Actually, I think your picture is very accurate. It seems like it fades quickly but don't worry ... in a dark room it just goes.

Btw how long does it take to fully 'charge' the lume? Like the OP, my lume fades quickly.

While I realize some folks really need long lasting lume on a watch, for me as long as it is still readable before the movie lets out then I'm good to go.

I guess it comes down to a trade-off between life per charge versus overall life. Tritium tubes will burn out eventually though they don't need to be charged and but don't have the initial brightness. I guess Rolex went the SL/Chromalight route because it essentially doesn't decay over time like tritium and therefore represents the durability that Rolex associates with its timepieces. But if they ever come out with a CaveDweller model, they should probably go the T-tube route.

My Sub-C lume is kinda aqua most times too. I find it is plenty bright and lasts plenty long.

Good shots guys, thanks for the comparison. In reference to the original comment re lume strength, I must agree. I've always felt the lume on my Rolexes was a bit weak in comparison to some other brands, mainly omega. The lume on my omega 2254.50 is tremendous compared to the lume on my GMT 2c.

Rolex lume is weak. Omega and especially Seiko have the best lume.

Exactly. In reality, the SubC lume is as Michael (Kilyung) said, is aqua at best.

When you see pics of the lume that appears blue, this is as a result of the camera's white balance setting, and thus gives a misleading interpretation of the lume colour.

Even the lume colour of the DSSD and SubC on Rolex's own website shows a deep blue which is very inaccurate and misleading. I am quite disappointed at Rolex for that.

Here is a pic that shows a more accurate lume colour (Aqua, more green than blue):

Lume is def stronger on Breitlings and Omegas divers and they tend to have double AR, both things Rolex should really look at.
