My understanding is that it can get confiscated if it's shipped to the US from any country including Canada.

No Rolex is allowed to be imported to the US, no matter where it is shipped from!

Countless threads on this topic are here on the boards for viewing...

It's a RolexUSA imposed import breach.

Has ANYONE ever had a problem PERSONALLY, not just heard from someone else because I believe that it is a load of crap, urban myth stuff.

I have personally shipped a Rolex oversees and have had one sent to me from abroad so I'm not buying it until I hear or see something official from the government.

There is NO problem shipping a rolex out of the US. Importing IS a different story!!

There was a thread on here that listed the imposed regulation (legal documentation), that shows Rolex USA will NOT allow importing of a Rolex. (I'm not about to search it out)
The fact you received one does not make this null and void. You got lucky period!!
There a few here that have watches held by customs and returned. Some even were near confiscation...

If you don't agree, just call Rolex USA and ask....

Yes I have and had one confiscated. After a long and nerve wrecking battle with Rolex USA's attorney's in NYC and a nasty threatening letter from them they released my watch back to the seller. It wasn't a fun week and a half or so!

The Rolex trademark recordation with Customs indicates "Import of Goods Bearing Genuine Trademarks or Trade Names Restricted." This means that genuine Rolex products can only be imported with the permission of the trademark owner, Rolex Watch U.S.A. Inc. A private individual can hand carry one Rolex watch from a trip overseas without obtaining permission. Bring in more than one, and they will all be seized as a trademark violation. Purchasing a Rolex from overseas by mail is also a trademark violation.

I work for US Customs, this is most certainly not a myth.

As usual Customs is blamed for enforcing US Law. If people do not like the law they should contact their congressperson.

Don't forget that even if the watch is purchsed on a trip overseas, that the watch MUST be declared when entering the USA along with the CORRECT value. That is, if you want to continue to be a law abiding citizen.

I never knew that, but I have sent a Rolex to the states before and I didn't have a problem with it thankfully.

David, PM me your name, address and cellphone, it can be arranged

I have shipped overseas and filled out all the paperwork, too. But incoming is another matter.

US Customs does random checks and a single package can always slip through. However, if you fill out all the forms at your Country's Postal Service and declare it is a Rolex, odds are it will be confiscated.

The casework I've read is amazing. Including idiots who declare 3 German watches in a package and 15 Rolexes are found. The weight alone gave them away

So if you live abroad and are moving back to the US will they confiscate your personal collection that you bought overseas? Scary.

Carrying on your person is different. It's shipping a Rolex that is not allowed...

Carrying multiple watches could be questioned by customs when entering. The value should be declared, but as far as the regulations, I can't answer that...
Something to look into before carrying a collection back to the US though..

You will need to declare them, have proof of purchase matching your name, serial numbers, etc. And then you get to pay duty. If they catch you hiding them or suspect you're a dealer, Customs will confiscate and you get to spend $$$ defending yourself.

Ok, good news, but if I am a resident of Japan and have aquired my Rolex while living here do I have to claim them if moving back to the States? Also some were purchased in Japan and some in America.. Scary and confusing.

Let's not talk about fakes either...but US Customs has people who can verify genuine vs. replica goods of a wide range of brands.

Then take a look at the trusted sellers here on TRF who will ship there. But I will tell you TRF sellers who are already in Canada may be a better choice.

Another member here just bought new in Canada because the same watch from a US seller here on TRF was more money due to taxes/duties despite a better discount off MSRP.

You may want to start reading through the basic rules and expectations of all members before continuing.
I've already removed one thread of yours for miss use.
