Saving for GOLD has begun!!
Like many of you, since I purchased my first Rolex, I have developed a desire acquire more timepieces. My goal was to own a TT, SS, and a YG Rolex. I already own a 116333 and my plan was to purchase a SS (116710 or 116610) in 2013. Although my grail watch is a YG Rolex, in the back of my head I was thinking that this wouldn’t happen until I was further along in my career or near retirement age (I’m 28). However, I was recently on vacation in the Bahamas and I had the opportunity to try on a 116718 (see below). It blew me away. Now I can’t stop thinking about owning gold, and I’ve been thinking about the following two statements:
You only live once. If there is a will, there is a way. With these statements in mind, I’ve decided to begin saving for a gold piece. To get the funds for the 116718, it will take me approximately 2 years of saving and I will have to sell my 116333, but I think it’s worth the effort. I will follow my gold purchase up with a SS and will probably not pick up another TT. I think I would be fully satisfied with a 116718 and 116610. I was considering opening up an account on an online brokerage site (e.g. E-Trade) to put my savings in to see if I can get some growth over the two years. What do you think?

only problem with gold is how quickly it scratches, getting a gold bracelet refurbed is $$$, and golds softer so its gonna wear a hell of alot faster than your TT or SS bracelets.

Gold GMT looks great. Ironic because most pilots I know make less than that watch costs

Awesome piece. Worth savings for. Check out a nice preowned one, you may get there sooner than 2 years.

I love how this addiction works... I first got a SS Sub, then SS wasn't enough and added a few 2tone pieces, than the itch came for precious metals - I haven't picked up a non Gold piece in a few years, minus the DSSD... Just added a YG DD, my first Gold Rolex...

Great plan, Chris! I am personally not a TT person, so it's always all steel or all gold for me.
Gotta say though, if it were me, I'd be all over that DD instead of the GMT! Good luck! |

Just to throw more fuel on the fire......the longer you wait, the more expensive it'll be....I mean we're at what 2 price increases a year these days?? Buy it, and Soon!
Personally I love the Everose...but that's just me.

You're probably right Thanks, that means a lot coming from you, as I have a lot of respect for your view on timepieces! WG is beautiful too, but there is just something about YG that makes me smile Hey Sam! I hope you don't mind, but I have a ton of your 116718 wrist shots saved on my computer!
