A Trade
Any thoughts on trading in a Panerai 88 gmt for a Breitling Bentley GMT Chronograph? The Panerai is 2010 while the Breitling is 2008. I am boarding a plane currently so I apologize if I can't respond immediately. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!!! |

Completely different styles of watches. I can't say I'm a Bentley watch fan. I wouldn't do it, but why do you care what I think. If you want it, go for it.
Research prices for each watch on www.watchrecon.com and you can see if it is a good deal and if cash would need to be added on either end. Have fun with the hunt.

No way. I like some Breitlings but IMO the Bentley is a little over the top.

I personally wouldn't do it. I do like some B'ling models. Like the Navitimer, for instance. It's up to you and how much you like the B'ling. Like stated already research the price (new and pre-owned).

In short....no.
I had the 88 which I sold to fund a 422. I wish I could have kept the 88. It's a great piece. I got compliments on that watch nearly every day. Also not a huge Brietling fan. Dial is very cluttered. Good luck whatever your decision. |

I do love the Panerai 88, and from the responses it might seem that the Bentley is a bit of "trend" type piece and that trend is ending! Since I have limited funds and don't want to take a misstep I'm now taking a pause. Appreciate all the thoughts, that what makes TRF the best!

Always consider the resale value, as it was stated before. The Bently models don't move, just like the Ferrari Panerais.

Good choice there. I don't like to impose my tastes on someone else too often. But I feel that would've been a downgrade. If you're just not wearing the 88 anymore, there are many other trades to be had that are either a lateral move (but with something you'll be happier with, so it's actually a + or even an upgrade. The Breitling Bentley, IMHO, would've ben a -.

I look at 99% of the Breitling dials and my eyes have to struggle to tell what time it is. I appreciate the brand's long history and the complexity, craftsmanship and detail but at the end of the day I need to know what time it is and I certainly have no use for the over-the-top chronograph features.
Like a previous poster said, if the 88 is not for you there are numerous other lateral choices over Breitling's Bentley IMHO. |
