Hi Rolex lovers. I m new in it and I need advice:)
Hi all. After many years of dream, my wife has finally agreed for me to buy a Rolex watch. Hooray!!!!
I've 2 choices- sea dweller and the submariner. I love the sea dweller as it has discontinued. I could still find new ones but the prices have already shot up. Next, I love the new submariner too. However, I don't which to choose. Should I get the one with lugs or the newer version w/o lugs. Can any1 expert here advise? |

Welcome to the forum...
The Sub might fit better as a daily watch - unless you have some big wrists. If you want to change straps a lot then maybe get the Sub with the lugholes.

Don't worry about future value or what's been discontinued and just get the one you like. All three are similar but pretty different in the details. Good luck with the choice!

I also say go to an AD and try ones on. Then come back and check what the TRF Trusted sellers have. You'll save some $$$

It sounds like you may be in my boat in that this may be your only Rolex for a while or you will be a 1 Rolex guy and not be starting a collection anytime soon. If this is the case I would recommend going into the AD and trying the watches on, both at the same time, so I mean in the one store that has both in stock so you can see them on your wrist together to compare. I would also say try them on and leave to have a good think and research about it. then maybe go in a second time and try them on all over again before you purchase.
If your still unsure of which and it is a really tough decision I would leave and go think about it some more. Only purchase when you are really sure. Don't worry about wasting the AD's time or anything like that coming and going. It's a big purchase. You need to test drive every now and again. I had a terrible time trying to decide between the black or white dialled EXPII 42mm. In the end I went for the white and I absolutely love it. I feel I made the correct choice but I still think about the black all of the time because I think they are both so great. I guess it is just human nature I suppose. I think if I could get the black dial and switch between the 2 every couple of days I don't think I'd ever need another watch.....(a very bold and possibly wildly crazy comment haha) |

Although the SD is larger, I think because of the height and the way it tapers back down to the bracelet it actually looks better on my small wrist than a SUB.

Both are sweet. If it were for me, two words: SUB C

I was at the same point that you are when I bought my 1st Rolex & I went with the DSSD. I found it to be too big & heavy for me, but it was a beautiful watch nonetheless. Less than a year later, I traded it at an AD for a SubC. The Sub is much more wearable IMO. Welcome & good luck in your decision-making.

You can't go wrong with either one.
If I can only have 1...it be the SD, but the SubC is a beautiful watch as well. Congrats! Can't wait for the wrist shot. |

Yes sir, C=ceramic.
do not buy from ANYONE other than a trusted seller here or an authorised dealer, unless you are well versed and seasoned on rolex watch, you put yourself at huge risk for a fake watch if you buy on craigslist, ebay, etc. |

I would definitely pick Sea Dweller between the two. You will have a more rare watch to start with. I also prefer the cleaner crystal without the cyclops.
