Is this real?

A friend of mine was asking me if this DJ is real. I couldn't answer him because I'm not that familiar with DJ's.

The watch was given to a friend of his as a wedding gift.

This is the only picture that I have of it.

The lettering and the date does look weird to me as well. And you're right about the bracelet.

That's all the pics I have.

hard to say from one photo, the bezel is not original rolex, the date font looks incorrect, it still has plastic wrapping on it ? therefore, it is new and should have all the papers etc. The dial looks aftermarket or fake, the spacing is all over the place at a glance, but better photos are needed to confirm. i am leaning towards fake, but the photos are inadequate.

The ladies' DJs can be had with a president bracelet, but that watch just looks funny to me.

Your friend should have it checked out at an AD.

Since your friend was concerned enough to ask you to opine, tell him to get it checked.

It is either a replica or an overly-customized Rolex.

that's not the way a Rolex factory sticker on the endlinks would look like! Fake!

When you have to ask "is it real" it's in 99% of the cases from such a source that it is fake.

... and a simple question. The "friend" who gave it to him as the wedding gift:

Would he be able to fork out around 40k for such a gift and would a gift from him be in that league?

Yeah, he's supposedly rich lol. But it doesn't make sense to give someone such an expensive gift as a normal friend.

They put protective stickers on fakes? (I am not implying it's real.)

Especially if you are trying to convince someone it is real.
