Need help deciding.

Hey guys I'm new.

I've browsed several watch forums but never joined.

I graduate next year and my dad will be buying me a djii fluted bezel. I'm not sure which dial yet.

However I was given an award yesterday at university and my mum has decided to let me get a watch. I want a watch that is different to the djii. Something that goes well with a leather jacket I wear a lot. It should be discrete as I will be taking public transport a lot until I graduate. I like the explorer ii black dial and the green sub. What would you choose ? Any other suggestions ?

Exp 2 is OK but if youre a Utd fan Id get the best, a black sub.

I'd go sub. LN to be a little more discrete

Yes, black sub no date. Most people would have no clue, it's cheaper than the Sub date and your DJII would then be your dressier watch.

If you like the exp 2, I would go with the sub as a first Rolex. If you decide to get a dj2 get the black roman. Good luck

There is nothing discrete about a green Sub. The ceramic makes it shiny and people are bound to notice a green watch.

The Explorer II is a good choice. The SubC ND or LN would be great choices as well.

I have the 114060 (no date subc) and will be picking up the smooth bezel DJII black stick dial. Sub and DJII is the perfect all occasion Rolex combination if you ask me.

If you want discrete, go with the Explorer 1 (214270), 39mm.

Appreciate the comments guys. My issue with the black sub is everyone has them. I have reservations about ceramic. The sub with the metal bezel was a great watch. The extortionate replacement cost is putting me of. The clasp of the new sub with the main body of the old would be nice. I have only tried on the djii. Need to get to my local store and try it. The djii is my favourite But I need a watch to wear with my leaver jacket as the two do not go. I wear tha jacket a lot. Also go hiking and snowboarding a lot and would not want to take the djii there.

Please excuse quality of my pic. I would go with a smooth bezel DJ, or DJII.
Seen below is the smooth bezel black stick dial 116200 36mm next to my Omega Speedmaster. I like the Explorer I however since it is missing the date it wouldn't be for me (something I learned through my speedmaster ownership, however it's too beautiful to pass up). The DJ smooth bezel is a little more muted than the fluted bezel variety, and at the same time adds a little bit of dress to the situation.

In my view, another perfect 'all rounder' (other than GMTIIc or Subc) offered by Rolex:

So you're getting a DJ2 and another watch? 39mm Exp is perfect.

If its your first, I'd say black sub. You're young enough - you'll have penty of time for another in the future.

I would think the black dialled exp II would be perfect with a leather jacket.
